Possible that low protein is hampering muscle strain recovery??

I have had this muscle strain for 8 weeks now and I have still been lifting upper body religously, until now I have not been taking nay extra protein. so I was getting "normal" protein.

Do you think that with my hard lifting, my body was rebuilding those muscles with the protein I had instead of also rebuilding my strained glute??
