For months following my last cycle back which ended back in Oct of 2003 I had some fairly bad acne on my back. Nothing helped. It just got worse and worse. I jumped back on a cycle a few weeks ago and all of the acne miraculously went away. All of it! Gone! Anyway, this has happened before. I usually get acne AFTER a cycle and it starts during PCT therapy. I never get acne while "ON". WTF? Any references to the dermatological phenomenon behind this would be appreciated.

Are you taking clomid???

Good question Term, do you think he has estrogen induced acne. No offense JA but the same thing happens to the O'lady when she comes off. Gets it on her stomach and back all I could figure was estrogen rebound. Any ideas anyone?

I'm just guessing, but I think that may be his problem. I know when I run a cycle w/o an aromatose inhibitor I break out (farily bad, imo), but when using one I get virtually no acne...

my theory has always been that with even blood levels, your hormones are even, so no acne. But afterwards, your hormone levels are all over the place, which leads to acne. Just like being a teenager

Run an aromatose inhibitor BETWEEN cycles to keep estrogen suspended....I think this might help you :)

btw, do you run an aromatose inhibitor while ON?
Yup thats what I was thinking. I always break out post cycle. I think its because your androgens drop and your test is high in response to the elevetad androgens. Elevated Estrogen makes almost everone break out to some degree.

Quad

happened to me on my first cycle, had acne all over my back. 4 months later jumped on a fina cycle and it all went away. Haven't seen it since. Its all about balancing your hormones. Arimidex and ending cycles with short acting esters made a world of a difference.

hormones affect the composition of skin secretions (oil content, hormone content) which in turn affects the numbers of randy, acne causing bacteria which will set up camp on your back. its very possible that the particular hormone profile at different times (on/off cycle,/pct) is the root cause

other factors will play a role, so its by no means the only thing causing it. clothes, temperature, immunity in the skin, activity level (lifting like a beast while on the roids) etc etc will come into it a bit

cheers JA

I actually get the same thing...no acne on cycle, but once I start PCT with clomid....wham! Red spots all over the chest, back, and shoulders. I just don't get it either

Usually not. I do run a low dose of Nolva but all Nolva does is keep estrogen from binding. An aromatose inhibitor stops estrogen from forming but it also fucks up your cholesteral levels.

man that's weird that it cleared up mid cycle!

I agree. If anything I would think the AAS would have the opposite effect and make the situation worse. needsize brought up an interesting point. Post cycle your hormone levels are in a state of imbalance, which could be a contributor to the acne post cycle.

You would be doing it in the name of SCIENCE :D...So if you die from high cholesterol, it wont be in vain ;)

LOL, I have always rationalized the cholesterol profile skews with the thought that my bp wont be as high from the tremendous amount of estrogen related water bloat one would be carrying w/o an aromatose inhibitor :D

This is correct. During a cycle you test levels are constantly high - thus no much fluctuation. But once you come off you drop significantly and then try to raise it thought pct. basically your hormone levels are like a yo-yo. This constant up/down is what causes the acne to appear

Quadsweep and Term are probably the most accurate. It's the swing in hormones that messes you up as far as acne goes.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT LIPID PROFILES WHILE ON THEY WILL GO BACK POST CYCLE. And then you have no worries.
There is a study that we've added to the Bjaarki Library at AnabolicFitness.com that would be good for you to read. In fact there are several added studies this month you may find interesting JA.

"Reversibility of the effects on blood cells, lipids, liver function and hormones in former anabolic–androgenic steroid abusers"
