Paypal from Portugal

Ok what the deal with this? I have an item for sale, and while not exactly a hot item, I have a buyer from Portugal jumping up and down shitting all over his pants to get his hands on it. Which puzzles me.

He wants to Paypal from Portugal. I admit, the item is already a bit overpriced and is a discontinued item. And adding the international shipping and insurance to it brings it up over the cost of what a new model would sell for.

I wouldn't ship nething international, more than likely a scam unless it's something only sold here

hes using a bad account. be careful or your paypal account will get hit with a chargeback.

How does the scam work?

Should I request a bank transfer or what to avoid Paypal?

I am selling a Canon 380EX flash for digital cameras. It is discontinued and no one really wants it. You rarely see them on ebay.

Well if no one else is gonna buy it and u wanna get rid of it might as well try it. Just keep an eye on your paypal account afterwards cuz he may try to file a claim and say he never got it.. I don't ever sell internationally cuz I always hear of scams

do it outside of paypal then, ask for an international transfer.

he then gets hit 15$ on top.

or tell him to wire the money to my account in Germany, I will then "escrow" it here until you come visit

Escrow: German for bamboozle

Yea AAP I wouldn’t unless he has a lot of feedback and its all positive. If there is no feedback then id say forget it. I used to sell computers a few years back and I sold some stuff on eBay to increase sales. Well I had just started accepting credit cards because paypal was not out yet or at leased not popular like it is now. Well this guy in Russia bought 30 pieces of ram from me at $100 a piece. I was ecstatic because it was one of my first sales with the credit card processing and they ended up putting a hold on all money I made through the processing company. Turned out it was a stolen credit card and I was out $3000 worth of ram.

Paypal is notorious for freezing your account even if you’re not at fault. And god forbid you sell some things and use pay pal and withdraw the money quickly they hold the funds that are there and say its fraud protection and ask for all this asinine business info just to release it. Took 3 months.

Paypal is shady about fraud even if you’re the victim. They act like you were in on it.

google paypal and see how many websites come up complaining about them. when they first came out they got introuble for acting like a bank without the proper licenses. so they sold the company to ebay to avoid going through the expense and process to get the licenses. ebay and paypal being the same company is so biased between the 2 its not funny.

and not only do they put a hold on the account for the amount that is in question (that would be understandable) but they put a hold on ALL funds in there. so if you had $30,000 in your paypal account because your a bigtime product seller on ebay and have a guy use a stolen credit card for $100 they freeze it all. not just the $100. so many people lost their businesses because of that. and you dont even see it coming. one day your good the next your account is limited.

Damn that is screwed.

I am not listing it on ebay, but he still wants to use PayPal. But I got a message from another interested party now. Will see how this turns out.

What is the city? A lot of people with money live in Cascais.

There is no feedback rating because this is not being done on Paypal. I listed this on another forum. He contacted me there.

Moot issue now. I told him I couldn't accept Paypal and he went belligerent.
