paxil warning

i been on for 2 months at 20 mgs and i love it...im in a better mood all the time and no side effects...no tiredness, no laziness..none of that shit...

i'd stay away from any seretonin altering drugs. i've been on paxil. prozac, celexa. they are evil. damn near wen't nuts (literally) when I quit the celexa. been on 2-4 mgs of xanax just to keep me off the grassy knoll. stay away from them

There are several lawsuits against Paxil's manufacturer for failing to warn people about the side effects during withdrawal.

Paxil does work very well for panic attacks and Social Anxiety Disorder. The negative side is usually weight gain, decreased libido and lethargy. Like M.O.D said, you will experience the "brain shocks" when trying to come off, but for me it was a very short process. In a few days I was off with no more discomfort. Taking xanax during the time you come off as well as tapering the dosage should help with the discomfort. Wellbutrin combined with Effexor seems to be a nice substitute without the negative sides.

my girlfreind takes paxil and she get fucking mean as shit when she drinks liquor with it, then the next day she wakes up and didnt think she had done anything wrong....but then blames it on paxil she never wanted to have sex either but now she stopped taking it for about a wk and she alwys wants to bang!

Well this is the final nail in the coffin. My GP put me on a test run of paxil @12.5mg to see if it would help with my sleeping probs. I was thinking about goingback and asking her to up it since 12.5mg didn't do shit but not anymore. Maybe I should just break down and go see a psych instead of my GP.

Paxil saved my life. Literally. Two other anti-d's I had tried, Prozac and Serzone, nearly drove me crazy. Paxil made me feel like a new person: the guy I had been before depression struck. It doesn't effect my libido in any way, and has the added benefit of delaying ejaculation for as long as I want. Friends of mine who have gone off did so over a four week period and not one of them experienced anything remotely resembling "brain shocks" or any other adverse effects.
MOD, sorry it didn't work for you, but threads like this have the potential of keeping serverely ill people from trying a medication that can save their lives. No flame, but how would you feel if one of those people you convinced to stay away from anti-d's went on to commit suicide? That's probably what would have happened to me if I hadn't discovered Paxil. Six years later, I'm a happy camper.

I agree that paxil messes with ya trying to come off. Actually it can mess with you once you have been on it for a while. I took it/and work in a pharmacy so I can say that I'm not talking out my ass. The print that they send to us that list all the possible side effects states the lowered sex drive (experienced) and also abnormal thinking. It affected my dreams that I had and caused them to be realistic. From everything that I have ever heard, I would try to get on serzone. I know one of the other guys said serzone messed him up but seriously... its what I would go for.

i have been off and on for about 5 years,i was recently on 40 mg a day and tapered to 20mg and have been off for about a month.my sex drive was decreased,even with 250mg sust eod.when i came off paxil my sex drive was back to normal in about a week.had severe brain shocks for several days,they are now gone but i am slowly starting to have increased anxioty,along with mood swings.guess i will have to go to the dr soon to get a refill.yeah paxil is great for social anxioty,but hard to come off of.
