if you are both in uniform, you are supposed to salute him (or vice versa, depending on rank). if one of you are in civilian clothes, you do not salute him.

i personally have not saluted anyone in months. it really does not happen up in my neck of the woods.

I know a 40 year old chick that got a direct commission as an O-1(she's not medical or legal)......it's amazing what lagging retention and a letter writing campaign can do.
