A friend who has a brother in the army told me that guys whack each other all the time and make it look like friendly fire. Don't know how true it is, but there are lots of shady characters in the military.

It's true bro, you have some pissed off at the world 19 year old straight from the streets out of basic training with a huge grudge against someone of a rival gang or something... or some asshole NCO who abuses his authority to make his subordinates look like a total ass in front of all of his friends, (there really are a lot of egotistical overbearing brainwashed morons in the military, and I can say that because I'm a gulf war vet and know how they are a lot of times) Think for one second, if I had the chance to off a couple of them by "friendly fire", that I wouldn't have done it. I've known people in the army who have done horrible things who deserve to be killed. However, it takes a lot to put your life on the line, and if they were to be killed it would be the right thing to have the same caliber of human to be the one to do it.

What about his last words that have been quoted in the press "Hold your fire, I'm Pat fucking Tillman"? Sounds kind of like a prima donna to me.

I hope I'm wrong.

Obviously the other guys didn't get the memo. Shouldn't have tried to be a gloryhog.

i for one having done 12 years in the military and also having been stabbed in the back by so called "Brothers" can say if i had the chance (at the time) i would have "accidentally" taken out some of them. when you are away from home for 6 months or more and day in and day out you have these assholes pushing your buttons it happens. i saw a guy working on a helicopter part. this was part of the rotor blade that weighs several hundred pounds and needs a hoist to lift it. well this guy kept pushing him and pushing him and all of a sudden he picked up the spindle (made of titanium) and threw it at the guy. he didnt hit him but came close. he ended up not getting in trouble because the officer in charge told him he was not allowed to leave the boat till he saw the captain. well the only person on the boat that can make you stay on the boat IS the captain. so when he went and saw him he was presented with the evidence and saw why the guy threw it at the other guy and would have done it himself if it were him. his excuse for not punishing him was the fact that they already punished him by making him stay on the boat and taking away his liberty.

he could have gotten so fucked. good thing the commanding officer saw reason and not just the law.

but seriously fokes this thing he threw at the guy is extremely heavy so his adrenaline had to be flowing. he even said he wished he killed him. tension is high when you are trapped on a boat for 6 months at a time during time of war because you cant just walk away and blow off steam, they follow you.

I find it strange that anyone who has ever been in any of those situations would believes in that kind of foul play. I've watched Platoon and know that Hollywood wants us to believe there is that much going on there but I don't buy their shit. I'm thinking that if I'm in an area where gunfire is highly possible the last thing I want is to not trust the guys who have my back. Even if you dislike ONE guy and take him out then you would find the others around you knowing your ability to be a ABSOLUTE COMPLETE DIPSHIT and you wouldn't last long. Thus the gain of getting rid of the one guy would only lead to your demise from the rest. I'm also thinking that the professionals at the levels that Pat was operating at wouldn't be playing dumb ass games like that. That is just my thoughts, I'm not saying I know it all but I am just pulling from my 10 plus years experience, 3 years hazard duty zones and member of an above average unit.
