Boulevard Wheat?
Actually I am quite impressed with the little brewery from KC. Boulevard's Unfiltered wheat is a great little clean refreshing beer, perfect for BBQ type food on a hot summer's day. Also, it doesn't have that hoppy bitterness that comes with stronger beer, making it perfect for those who aren't used to drinking beer.
But in saying that, I must say that I love Boulevard Bully Porter. Much like a stout, this beer is black as night, has a great head that doesn't leave the glass throughout the life of the drink, and is just an incredible mixture of burnt coffee and chocolate. Creamy and delicious!
Now, I will also try to hunt down some delicious belgian assortments, ala Chimay Grande Reserve, Westvleteren, and/ or Rochefort 10.
Then we'll try to have a delicious assortment of the best England has to offer: Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout, and Samual Smith's Imperial Stout. (If you haven't had this imperial stout, you haven't had great beer.
I thought about making the cover charge be a couple 6 packs each. I cook the food, and have lots of beer, and you guys repay me by stocking my fridge with beer.
There are lots of good American Macros that some of you guys can find better than I, I'm sure. Lots more to choose from in Tulsa and KC than in Springfield.
If you guys can find any Stone, Three Floyds, Kalamazoo, or Rogue (especially the stouts or Imperial Stouts, or strong Ales) - pick em up!
To end this little lesson on beer, here's a good one (on top of the Boulevard Porter) that just about anyone can find...
Samuel Adams Cream Stout. Very good. Much better than Guiness (which is still a pretty damn good beer - and one of the best draughts available.
