Overtraining???????

I just don't know what to think? :rolleyes: I have been wondering if I'm at an overtrained state. I just started my monthly curse too. I start my training week off usually on Tuesdays. Well, Tuesday I was still feeling sore & tired from leg day, Sunday. I slept in and did HIIT that p.m., didn't get heart rate quite as high as normal. Yesterday got up in a.m. & Powerwalked on treadmill at an incline, still feeling a bit tired. In the afternoon, chest & tricep. I've woken up the past two mornings hungrey, usually I can wait for a bit to eat because I do my cardio in a.m. on empty stomache. I've felt pretty lethargic and sleepy at times. A bit cranky too? So once again I decided to sleep in and do my cardio in the afternoon but just a recovery type. Any suggestions as to what I am experiencing? Or do I just need 10 or 12 :coffee: ?

I experienced something similar this week. This week the weights seemed a lot heavier and the soreness I usually get after a good workout is lasting longer than normal. My "monthly curse" will be arriving in a few days. So, I'm wondering if it is due to an increase in hormones/my body requiring more energy to take care of this upcoming event. :rolleyes:

Hey NYC Girl! I felt like the weights were heavier too & to do my work-outs it was a mental struggle too. As far as my appetite, I'm not as hungrey at my usual times??? Confused?? Toots13

Okay....I know....I know (little scampering dog with tail between the legs) I just posted in my log my evil doings. ;( I come from a competitive background & we would run & cycle countless hours. I just now am seeing the light thanks to you & the girls here at EF. I know, I hate to even admit to it. :(. As far as cardio 3 times a week HIIT at 45 min sessions? and 2 recovery sessions at 45 min? Lay it on me. I really want to make this change in my life and get this all straight. Thanks a million! HIIT should be no more than 20-25 minutes plus the 5 min warm-up





HIIT:


30 seconds all out
1 minute of active recovery


^^^ = 1 cycle



Do 8-9 cycles ONLY



no more than 3x per week......
 
how many cals per sessions WERE you burning at 75 minutes??


about bodyweight/10 per minute?
 
I was including warm-up & cool down, but GOT IT! I will do what you suggests & thank you for your patience. I know, you probably want to slap people like me. I will change from cardio queen to muscle & lean, with your help. Pinky swear to adhere to the prescribed sessions! LOL Shadow, you's the bestest!!! Thank you! :)

Actually, I was trying to get away with the same thing. :worried: I guess if the other girls can post before pics, then so can I. I'll stat posting pics in my log when I start my new program.
 
Hey Shadow, I will give you a weekly pic! I thought the pics in my toots13 log would do, but I guess that's a big N...O...!! :qt: I'll get one taken asap. I wore my Polar heartrate monitor & it was showing 725-900 cal a session. Then add in an hour weights..okay....boy...oh...boy, yup! I don't even want to admit this to you! I better get my ish straight, huh? I bet you can see the sweat. I DO want to make this change and therefore will commit to the challange.Toots13 LOL!!!! :heart:

just remember that you WILL have to adjust cals a bit
 
Yeah, I was wondering about that. Well, tomorrow's a new day and I will have time over the weekend too do ALOT of thinking. Shadow, any suggestions on what I should do tomorrow? I've now taken Monday and today off due to my OT. Thanks for any suggestions. Toots13

Shadow, I'm not sure where to post to you, continue here or in my log? Well, I will have your picture hopefully posted tonight. I want you to know it was hard not to do anything this morning. But then again, I have been sleeping from 10:00 at night to 7:15 in the a.m. That's alot for me. I usually am up pretty easily about 5:45 during the week.Toots13
