OT: acne got me down!!!

I'm 26 and have had acne since I was about 12 or so. Always have...probably always will to some degree. I sweat all the darn time too...lol.

When it gets bad...I shower 2-3x per day. Sometimes all I do is get in under the water, not wash my hair or anything, just get in and get back out a couple minutes later. It helps...

I've also used cotton balls and alcohol to clean my face, Noxema a few times a day, and my girlfriend also gave me some acne cream that she had left over herself. It is something from Cyprus...not sure what it is here. About like clearisil though.

Forgot to mention something that does wonders for acne.... Its a topical lotion called Clindatech. You apply it at night before bed (works best when your skin is relaxed) to affected areas and spots. It clears up pimples like nothing else and works really well on cystic type acne, like the stuff I'm prone to get. Its perscription only here in Australia, so see your GP.

I normally have some acne, but have cleared up quite a bit as of late. I wash using store-brand Noxema in the mornings and before bed. Before bed I was and then put on clearasil (and I go heavy on this-just watch out because it will bleach everything-i.e pillowcase etc). Mid day I use one of the single-wrapped stridex face wipes. This really helps, I think just because I am very oily. Also wash your pillows or pillow case often (I do once a week) and probably your sheets as well. Try to not touch your face at all, unless you are washing it.

Accutane is an option, but listen to me carefully. Bro, NO DERMATOLOGIST IS GOING TO PRESCRIBE IT TO YOU for a few pimples!!! There is a HeeeeeUUUUUUUUGGGEEE difference between a few pimples, and full-on Acne. Don't believe me? Look up some Acne photos on the Net, and see if it is ANYTHING close to what you have. Ance, bro, is BEYOND pimples. It is closer to lepracy in its' worst forms. Usually only then, will a DT prescribe accutane. It is a brutal drug to the system, but, unfortunately, is also incredibly effective in clearing up ance in a matter of weeks, where years might be required otherwise. You might luck out & get it, but I doubt it, unless your face is really a mess.

Than again, if you pitched a good hissy-fit(assumint the DT doesn't want to give you Accutane), saying that you are "going to kill yourself" or some shit, "if you can't get these pimples cleared up"...that might work. I doubt they'd want your blood on their hands over a few blemishes! :D:D:D:D:D:D

My face wasn't even close to the type of thing you're described, Atomic Punk. Actually, it wasn't all that bad when you think about some of the people you see at high school. However, I had cystic, tumour-like pimples. They were ugly and massive, and really needed to be dealt with.

Its also a personal thing. While I found the drug to be harsh, the only problem I had was dry lips. It was super-effective. It was definately worth it. I think confidence and assurance gained from clearing up something that you're self-conscious about is important when you're that age.

I agree bro. I declined its' use in HS, because I was told it would effect my lifting. So I was a well-defined, zit-faced punk all through HS. In retro, I wish I'd taken it. It really does work, you're right.

I was only on the lowest dose, but my brother ended up being given a pretty heavy one. He had quite bad joint pains, so it isn't necessarily untruthful.

I understand. My rolleyes was more intended towards my own ignorance about how I really looked. I mean, you lift to get noticed, right? So you get noticed by a girl, then she pans up to your zit-soaked face, and suddenly the guy with the bangin' bod, just went from hero to zero in a New York minute. Know what I mean? I should've taken it. Stupid NOT to, on my part. Then again, it was 14 years ago so.................................I look fine now.:D:D
