He won't even get a shot at the CFL because of the stigma now attached to him; Winnipeg was going to sign Pacman Jones, but after pressure from the league, they decided not to give him a shot. The best this guy can hope to do is arena league most likely.

does anyone know the background behind this? From what I saw, dude walked up on another dude, slapped his shoulder and "appeared" to have talked some shit. Now dude number didn't take kindly to whatever was said and did snuke one, but dude number 2 was a Ho for talking shit and turning his back. it's a man's game and it's a violent game of violent collisions. . .if he's got the stuff, this won't hold him back at all. . .one of the nice things about being young, is you can fuck up quite a bit and still be forgiven (and, if you got mad skills, sign a big ass contract).
2nd or 3rd round is pretty far from borderline. some of the responses here are way exaggerated. the only part i disagree with is the reaction to the crowd. as far as hitting the guy, who knows, maybe he called him a nigger or son or boy.

nfl teams are increasing their standards for their professionals. if they are going to invest millions of dollars in a player they better not have to worry about him jacking someone in the mouth and being suspended while they have to continue paying him the guaranteed money. thats why the mans career is over

I disagree. If it had happened DURING THE GAME, during live play in the heat of battle, I could see giving him a 3-4 game suspension, anger management, ect and then giving him another chance. But it happened when the game was over, and that's just plain retarded...it can't be chalked up as a heat of the moment adrenaline-rushing and game-related act. It was the act of a punk with a bad attitude, and I'm glad the NCAA is finally getting tough on idiots like this kid. I hope the NFL sends the same message come draft time...leave the delinquents at the car wash where they belong.

yeah I didn't see what he did to his own teammate earlier, I seen it now. That's pretty fucked. I agree now with the punishment. Does anyone here think that keeping him in the lockerroom after he went to the face on his own teammate would be tolerated by the rest of the team? That wasn't some white boy trying to hold him back either, that was one of his own folk. I hate to put it in those terms cause it shouldn't matter, but it does unfortunately. Of all the things he did that night, it's the thing with the teammate that really may hurt him with the NFL the most. The other things, like someone said....they let vick back in didn't they? But if you're an NFL coach do you want a dude who could potentially fight with a teammate cause he didn't get his way?

he's off the team, period. He will not practice and he's now minus an entire year of NFL scouting. He was already reprimanded for showing up at spring training overweight. With a year away from football he'll slap on 15 lbs in no time.

Why would a coach waste precious practice reps on a player that will never step on the field? Even having him at practice would be a distraction. Maybe he'll have access to the weight/training rooms but I can't see him putting on a uniform every day. There's no upside for the team.
watch the coach speak. very classy guy. said he and the university will not allow blount to flounder and fall on his ass. i have a great amount of respect for them. this kid does not deserve this at all. the manner in which people are so unforgiving for this amazes me. people make mistakes, some are big, and all deserve to be given an opportunity to make amends. the punishment should fit the crime and i get the idea that the university and coaches are doing what they are told by not allowing him to play but they arent going to let him fall off the face of the earth. he will be in the nfl at this time next year. no question. i bet he comes in the best shape of his life for any tryouts he gets. sometimes motivation comes in strange forms.

I forget his name, but some ESPN analyst had him ranked the #2 RB (56th best player) going into next years draft. He did get rocked that entire game and you could see the frusturation in his face/body language/especially his eyes. I actually thought to myself that he was going to go crazy fucking mad when oregon missed on 4th down and fuck some guy up, but he had to wait until the end of the game when i turned it off because it was such horse shit.
