Oprah is a racist

New member
There - I said it.

I like her personality but why did she wait for a black candidate to finally endorse a someone for president?? Is it because of his policies? Hell no - he is spewing the same crap Hillary, Al or the rest of the crew. It all boils down to the color of his skin.

Quite sad - I would like to see a black President but I honestly think it will have to come from the Republican party. No way the masses will vote for a black democrat - regardless what celebrity is endorsing him/her.

I would not call someone a racist b/c they endorse their own race.
If she edorsed Clinton, would she be a feminist?

I disagree - that is exactly the point. You know she is a democrat so why did she wait until now to endorse a candidate? Is it only because of the colour of his skin??

I know it is not the lesbo thing or she would be after Hillary for sure.

You are right about one thing.

Hillary can't keep her dick in her pants.

You know, when you are of a race that's been repressed for so long, you tend to get excited when one "your own" moves up the ladder.
I personally don't think she would endorse him if his policies were evil or hateful. And you know, the black youth in America is out of control, maybe with a healthy role model, some of the black youth can find some hope.
Maybe this is what Oprah is hoping for as well. She is FAR from racist!

Agreed, she's racist. From what I've seen, her political views would line up more with Clinton.

She was all about the war a few years ago.

Believe me - I am much more mature than you. The first time I voted for President - Reagan was running.

I have also followed many elections and Ms Oprah has been around long before Bill Clinton's doinking became public knowledge.

This has nothing to do if you think Oboma is the right candidate - what I am asking is the only reason she finally endorsed a condidate is the colour of his skin??? Intelligent answers only - the above did not qualify.

well let's not go overboard. I think Clinton would make a MUCH better prez than Obama

I remember reading about some huge ass monetary discrimination settlement
in the article the other employees would refer to "that one in there" (in her office)
e.g. better watch what you say or that one in there will cause a ruckus

If your much more mature than me then ACT YOUR GOD DAM AGE,
Only a CHILD would come out with such STUPID ASS COMMENT because for the first time a woman like Oprah is STANDING UP for what SHE REALLY REALLY BELIEVES IN.
This has nothing to do with the colour of his SKIN, if she has backed Clinton then YOU would say who she is backing a WOMAN, either way Oprah cant win, America needs a fresh face and a new voice, The Clintons have way too much baggage and why should ONLY TWO political families swoop roles for the white house, WHY PEOPLE WHY

Is that not the definition of a racist? When you choice a race over anyone else without regard to anything else?

you're a tard.

firstly neither bush or billy c can run again. not sure why the fuck you mentioned them for who oprah should endorse.

secondly you dont even live in the US. go ahead and have your opinions, but also go ahead and fuck off while you're at it.

There are many definitions of racism.
I think if she is endorsing him b/c he can have a + influence in the black community, then how is that racism. The connotations of racism is hate. She is not a hateful person.

So what separates Obama from any other Democratic candidate??

I'll answer that.

First, he has no experience that is a stumbling block. Hillary has a lot of baggage. John Edwards is boring and just doesn't connect. No other candidate is connecting with people in a real meaningful way. Obama is offering people something no other candidate - Republican or Democrat - is offering. He's offering them an emotional "feel good" message of hope, hence the title of his book "The Audacity of Hope." He is trying to ride the wave of John F. Kennedy, camelot is beautiful type of campaign. The color of his skin is not really an obstacle because the only people who would not vote for him on account of his being black wouldn't vote for a Democrat anyway. Some of the people who would vote for him because he is black wouldn't vote for him if he were a Republican.

None of this is to say I will vote for him or support him. I'm also not saying Oprah isn't a racist, but don't think she's supporting Obama on the basis of race alone. I think Oprah is supporting him because of his message. She didn't endorse Alan Keyes and she didn't endorse fat ass Al Sharpton either. She likes Obama's feel good message.

billfred said:

ok, even if it does point to race, that still does not make her a racist?

I hear some of what you are saying but Oprah has been around for a long time and there has been many democrats saying a lot of the same things that Oboma has. Maybe it is just the first black candidate that is more mid-stream? But that brings me back to my point - there have been many Democrats that have said a lot of the same things Obama is - but did not get her nod. Yeah she is smart enough not to throw in with some of the crackpots but she still failed to endorse many smart white democrats.

Good point - she is way to smart to be subject to racial prejudice. Yet I believe she chose to endorse Oboma because of his race. So what does that make it????

it should have nothing to do with race.

the president should be the candidate who best represents the people. though we all know it does not work that way all the time..

you are making it seem like obama should win simply so we have a minority president.

billfred said:

Pride

She had to fight her whole life to get respect. Being a woman and not only a woman, but a black woman, she had to fight harder than the next guy. She relates to Obama's struggle to get to where he is today. She maybe has pride in his accomplishments?!
Just a guess, but I don't believe she has one racist bone in her body.

Point taken and i agree with you on that, it is just a shame that for the first time a Woman and a Black man are both running at the sametime

I do believe America will have a Woman president some day but until that happens, Oprah will do what she can to represent women on her show and way of life, BUT right now the country needs A New Voice someone to really bring that WIDE divisions on race together

billfred said:

I guess it comes down to how you view the term racist.
I view it as a hateful term. Like I said, I don't believe she is a hateful person.
You can call her Bias maybe, but not racist

I might be wrong - but I think America will have a black president before they have a woman president. That comes from my days in business - women hate to be bossed around by other women. Hence, women tend not to vote for women yet blacks will almost always vote for blacks.

billfred said:

As a black she has a personal interest in seeing a black president. I don't think that is racist. There has never been a black president and she must feel she can kind of make history.

As far as his policies, I think she is probably in line with most of them.

Let's put it this way: do you think she would endorse a conservative black like me? Hell no. She, just like most liberal blacks hate Clarence Thomas because of his conservatism even though he is black and a Supreme Court Justice.

Hmmm.. interesting point. You think racial bias is different from racism?

You think racist defines purely hate for another race?

She'd call Clarence a house n*****.

Maybe - the ones who vote for him only because he is black and not because he is better than the other candidates.

Let me say this - I think we will have a black president before we have a woman because 1) Whites will vote fore a Black president they believe in 2) Blacks will vote fore a Black candidate because he is black 3) Men will generally not vote for a woman and women will generall not vote for a woman.

So what chance do the Demorcrats have???? Maybe Oboma (but he is a bit left to bring in many white men) or Edwards. Hillary is toast. imho

billfred said:

Yes, totally different in my opinion. I've always defined the term racist as hateful, but like I said, the word has different meanings.
Many religions chose their "own" in biz, housing, work etc based on race. It doesn't make them racist, but they chose maybe b/c of what's comfortable to them.

ok - let's try to define racist. Here is Webster's definition. Do you think Oprah fits that?

racism
One entry found.

racism

Main Entry: rac·ism
Pronunciation: \ˈrā-ˌsi-zəm also -ˌshi-\
Function: noun
Date: 1933
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination

If she were endorsing him on color alone, then maybe, but I do believe she is a HIGHLY intelligent person and is chosing him b/c of this policies and belief system and yes, it helps that he's a strong black man. Nothing wrong with wanting her race to be looked at as strong.
So yes, if she is chosing him just on color, according to this definition, then she is a racist.

Which brings me back to my original point - if it was not because of his race, then why did she never endorse any other democrat candidates that have a very similar platform?

So all black people will cast their vote purely based on race? That's a pretty big generalization/stereotype...racism? Are you saying they're too stupid to pick the best candidate? Unable to separate ethnicity and politics? Are you using a single celebrity (Oprah) to base this opinion on? Or is this indicative of a larger prejudice? I can't help but sense the racist undertones of your posts in this thread.

Oprah is very racist-I agree,my negative opinion of Oprah doesn't stem from the fact that she is black, a woman, or successful. I think Racism will end when shows, like Oprah stop showing differences between races, its all contributing to Racism in the end. I've watched her show and everyday she will make a remark about, there being a difference between Blacks and Whites. I think that it still keeps the idea of racism alive, a racism is a belief, it is believing there is actual divide races of people of colour or decent. Since oprah is still promoting that belief be it on purpose or not, she is still guilty. All the things she does would never be tolerated if a white person did it. White History month, white school only, White only scholorships, I am so tired of hearing MY people. If a white TV person were to make comments like Oprah and other racist black people the NAACP would have a field day with that. Im not trying to be insensitive about the past, what happened is messed up, i dont condone it but i think its time to move on. NOTHING should be based on race. Not a job not school, nothing if you earned you should get it.

I dont think she should've gotten involved in politics being that she is a journalist/talk show host. Personally i have no prob. w/a black pres i just dont think he is the best choice for america at this time. Im pro Hillary not because she is a women but because she has the experience, she's been in the office previously and she has what it takes to turn this country around.

If preferring your own race makes you a racist then 95% of the people here are. How many white guys here have dated a black girl and taken her to meet mom? Are you a racist just because you haven't?

I have to admit, I usually vote for the white guy during a boxing match only because I'm embarrassed that so many whites get their asses kicked by blacks in sports and since I'm white, I don't want people to assume that the black guy is automatically better. LOL (pretty silly really)

all races make generalizations about other races.

the black kids think all whites are "hey brah surfer dudes"

all whites sterytypes the nukkas as "gangstas"

everyone knows asians are "bruce lee geniuses"

jews are great business men and specialize in the lox-and-bagel

germans are angry nazis.

indians work at quickie mart and all smell like shit.

arabs are towelheaded violent terrorists who are inherently violent

the difference between all those races is that racism against blacks is constantly in the news because its somehow a bigger deal than racism against whites/asians/mejicans/jewz/arabs. untill this is fixed/dies down/black people quit being so dumb, racism will never end.

thats a fact.

sad but true.

if don imus backed hillary cause she was white and had a nice set of tits, hed be in jail somehow,

...trying to muddle through your incoherence. Oprah is viewed by millions of Americans of every hue. My point is that if she is a regular O watcher, then she must not be too upset by her so-called racism since she in effect helps to make her rich.

how sad is it that a celebrity endorsement can actually end up swinging an election. what a great educated judicious electorate.

Even dummies have the right to vote. Why do you think the democratic party exists?

I do think the US needs a black prez, but before that, i think the US needs a woman prez. :-)
Why dont we work on getting a GOOD president first, not black, woman, mexican, gay, mormon, martian etc. Plus youre canadian, so dont tell us what type of president you think we need.

Results are skewed because most democrats are too dumb to read the ballot or make to the polls. Why do you think dems support motor voter? So that people will register to vote in spite of themselves.

Support your local racist?? You're helping to make her rich and basically endorsing her show by your loyal viewing.

Ohhh cmon...i took you for a smart cookie....what kind of argument is this???

I just gave you a fact, and, again, you answer with alice-in-wonderland wildeyed misdirection.

please cite your source for this statement:

She has watched her show, which hardly makes her "a regular o watcher." The "everyday" part of her post implies that "every day that she has watched the show" she has noticed oprah saying something racial. It can be understood, from only watching the show a few times, that Oprah always makes a big deal of such things, and thus shows her audience that it is OK.

Your attempt to completely dodge the topic by basically trying to imply that the person whose post we are talking about is a racist,, is pathetic. and annoying. perpetuates racism....and is exactly what we are saying needs to stop.
