I know if I ever marry again I will definately get a thorough prenup, and if my then wife-to-be says no then I will not marry her, no matter how much I love her. I thought my first marriage was gonna be forever, it just seemed so perfect, but I learned that even the most perfect love and marriage can end practically overnight. I'm 28 years old, I've worked my ass off to buy 2 houses (1 will be paid off in 7 years, on a 10 year loan, currently being rented out. Other paid off in 12 years, on a 15 year loan, I currently reside in this house). I have no debt beyond my home mortgages, even my vehicle (Lexus SC400 Sports Coup) is paid in full. Most women I met have nothing but debt debt and more debt. I'm not trying to be hard on or mean to women, I'm just trying to protect what is mine, what I've accomplished. When dating a girl I treat her like a princess. My last ex and I use to go out to dinner a average of 3 times a week. Nice places too, not fast food. No matter where we went or what we did she would never have to pay for a thing. I have no problem with commitment, its when its to the point the government will get involved that I have an issue with. I had to break up with my last ex because after a year and a half she demanded marriage. It started out with hints, and soon after that turned into demands. I don't understand why women think a guy is only committed if he is willing to marry. Marriage doesn't mean shit, look at the divorce rate. I don't think I should have to marry a girl to show her how much I love her, if there is enough love and trust in the relationship, my word alone should be enough.

It's a respectable ideal that is very much out of date concept that simply poses peer pressure for young people to feel that they must marry to be considered normal person of society.

If people chose to make the right commitment for the right reasons and not under pressure, at the right time and be willing to work on their relationship no matter what instead of being married for the sake of the rock, the house and the kids and how they appear to the Jones's there might be a chance.

I have been talking to a lot of women in their 40's (along w/doing a few other things lol) They are able to look back in their 20's and see how crazy they were about getting married. SOMERVILLE, Mass. (Reuters) - A mother's deathbed confession led police on Thursday to a dead body in a storage locker freezer, and officials said the corpse may be that of the woman's husband whom she murdered more than a decade ago.

The woman apparently told her children as she was dying that their father had not died in a car crash as they thought but that she had in fact killed him and that his body was in a rental storage facility in Somerville, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston.

Family members then contacted police, who searched the facility and found a large freezer wrapped in duct tape and giving off a strong odor. Inside, they found the remains of what they think was a man.

Local prosecutors said the man may have died as a result of a domestic homicide that took place more than a decade ago in California. The body was thought to have been shipped from California to Massachusetts, where it has been in storage since at least 1998.

Middlesex District Attorney Martha Coakley's office did not identify the woman, who has since died.

Coakley's office said it would contact law enforcement authorities in California as part of its investigation.

Women do not have to wait for anyone to have children. Although it is probably good for the child to have input from his mother and father to have a balanced upbringing, but then again it’s not necessary. The old feminist argument about marriage being slavery for women applies only if the man does not share the marriage chores equally with his wife. Then you cannot deny the unfairness to her in that relationship. The author of the article does not specify where his research is coming from and by whom it has been conducted. If a woman initiates a divorce it’s for the reason given above plus more. It is hard to believe that someone gets divorced FOR NO REASON AT ALL. If you do better research a reason will surface. Just because someone is silent (or does not give a reason) about a given matter it does not make them guilty or that a reason does not exist.

There is no need. That the best you can come up with as reason to divorce a man is because he watches sports does a better job for arguing my point of view than I ever could.

From an ex-married man to a soon-to-be married man, take this one piece of advice: get a prenup. It doesn't matter how much you love her or how strongly you feel that this is "the one" and your love will last forever and that nothing could possibly go wrong, GET THE PRENUP. Protect yourself man; better to have it and never need it than to not have it and lose everything years from now when it will hurt you most. And if she balks at getting a prenup and throws a fit, then take it as a good thing that you learned about that side of her now rather than after the fact. If she really cares for you and loves you then she will have no problem with a prenup.

This article is smudging women’s reputation. It is no news that men do not want to get married early on or at all for that matter (they want to play around find the right women blah blah blah). BUT SO DO MANY WOMEN - (we need to have fun and find the right guy too). I have met a lot of men who do not want to get married and a lot more women who do not either, for various reasons. Women who don’t want to get married (or form a commitment) is because they are very stable, have all they need to survive –career, money, house great family and friend support. And do not need some anyone’s riches – so guys relax. We do not have a hidden agenda to get you or your hard earned cash, house, cars etc – women are capable to have that stuff too deriving from their honest occupation. If you are talking about the Ivana Trump situation where the guy probably cheated on her - well she took him to the cleaners because he made her feel second class. She was in it for a life time and through his infidelity fucked up her life - so what is the woman to do - took the bastard to the cleaners to teach him a lessen and let him never forget her. Anyway that is revenge for her.

Precisely. He is taking OTHER men's life experiences who HAVE gone through it; therefore, his age is irrelevant to this matter. You contradict yourself. Weeks is not writing about his own personal life experiences. IF he were then you might have a slight case for your argument, but he is not. Nobody said it is only the man who suffers huge losses in divorce; however, it is MORE OFTEN the man who does get "taken to the cleaners" in the event of a divorce. That is Week's assertion, which is a valid one. Are you refuting this assertion?
