thanks to craig's list, one side of the "shotgun" double rental house i have spent the last 9 months slowly renovating is now occupied..

one more side to go!

after 9 months of working on this place, i gotta say i'm more than a little sick of it.

but

the guy that rented it was darn near foaming at the mouth with happiness over the place, said nobody else has the combination of quality and value available...just shows how perspectives can vary, hey?

built around the turn of the century, with transoms (small windows) above all the doors, these shotguns were considered very space efficient and easy to keep cool in the days of pre-air conditioning, easy to get a breeze thru the entire house. even today, 2 small window unit a/c units cool the whole house quite easily, thanks to the superior air flow pattern.

many peeps love living in these shotgun houses down here and search them out avidly.

I forgot the important part -- the name comes from the idea that if you fired a shotgun in the front door, it's go straight through and out the back door.
