OMG I got surreal call after work...

So this recruiter has been calling me for a few days just at the wrong times when I am in the office. On my drive home we finally connect when I can talk. He tells me he has an opening for a senior account executive role. (My ears perk up cause that would be a nice step up the ladder consider I became an AE only a year ago.)

Then he tells me I selected you because of your linked in profile and the vast knowledge you have around Microsoft. He then goes on to tell me the role is with DELL. OMG I am speechless which is pretty rare. I was like ok go on what is the offering... 80k base (me in my head OMFG our SAE’s have a 60k base) total comp 120-150k. (I have been trying to break 100k for 3 years now.) We talk for a bit more he is like well I really want you to send me your updated resume I really think you are a great fit for this role.

Cliff notes I have to work on my resume this weekend. Never in a million years would I have thought of ever working for Dell. Bottom line is money talks bull shit walks. Wish me luck.

Good luck - but I always take anything a recruiter says with a grain of salt. They are salespeople just like anyone else. I've had more than one dangle a great job in front of me only to tell me that "oh, that position got filled...but they might consider you for this same paying lateral move position we have as well.". They make commission no matter what job they place you in.

I am surprised we haven't crossed paths considering where my current company HQ is. Well I get what you are saying I think that it is actually a pay cut for an SAE with a company of Dell's size. They position to it to someone younger like myself and know I am going to be happy as hell about it.

I watched my old company do that to people all the time for the product funded heads. Then the funded heads find out how much the manufacture actually pays the company to have them and they feel screwed.

Last year when the economy is even worse I managed to get a job that stepped me up a level and raised my base but not my over all total earnings I kind of get screwed at that end but knew I would make less just based on the economic shit hole.
