Dude meets girl well on vacation in the islands they falls in love. Dude sees girl twice a year for 3 years on the 3rd year they marry. The spend most of there first year of marriage appart as he lives in Canada she lives there and they are working out the imigration details. Should be another 6 months before she can come here. Witnesses at the wedding was only here family his family doesn't even know he got married!!!!!!!!!

so they have seen each other a total of 6X in 3 years, while on vacation on some islands....i wish them well.
 
Couple sees/communicates with each other everyday throughout their courtship. They divorce within 3-5 years, maybe less than that.

That marriage may outlast many traditional relationships. As long as both parties are happy, that's all that matters. What brought them together, is irrelevant.

I hope you are right he is a sweet guy he deserves to be happy.

I see problems in the first line and I didn't read beyond that one.
 
I dated my G.F. in high school for 3 months before I left for the army. She stayed in school 2 more years, we saw each other for 1 week, twice a year for 2 years, 'til we got married. It was a disaster. Everyone that said we wouldn't make it is now divorced, & we've been together 25 years. Which will all end now if I don't get off this comp, LOL.

Yeah? My wife and I started dating in college. We went out and spent the day together. Ever since that day, I've seen her almost everyday. It's now been ten years...


...and the second I find where she hid my wallet...
 
my family are absolute ballbreakers. i had considered not telling them if i have kids/relationships in other states.

good point. I know people who seem normal, but their families are beyond disfunctional.

I have seen pics of her she is very cute IMO. Yes his family is ball breakers old school Portuguese. She is Dominican so probably not as light skinned as his Mom might like. They are aware that his girl is coming over but they think on a fiancés visa so they must know that marriage is on the agenda somewhere.

LOL...If i had a dollar for every dude that went to DR and fell inlove and the chick wantedt to get married right away...I would be rich.

Maybe I am cynical or jaded or whatever but I don’t believe in that love concurs all crap. If it were even remotely true the divorce rate would not be as high as it is.

I am not sure why he didn’t tell his family, probably to avoid the stress of his mom flipping out.

dont be cynical, or jaded, because if you are terribly against love, it may pass you by.
but your right on divorce, it can get nasty
 
I don't know how anyone could live like that. About two weeks after I met my wife, I couldn't stand to be away from her. Even after almost 17 years together. . .when she goes away for a few days with the kids to see her parents (when I'm real busy), by the time she gets back I'm pretty miserable. . .I like being around her and I hate sleeping alone.

I think the divorce rate is so high because people are fuckin selfish. Everything's gotta be their way. They wanna be right all the time, so their partner is always wrong. It becomes a battle to seee who the master of the house is, rather than work as a team to get through life.
I cant count how many of my younger aquaintences go through life bitching about how their partner did this or that. When I try to guide them to seeing the issue with their partners perspective, they don't wanna hear it.

Amen! If it's not a two way street, it won't work. . .period. Also, a lot of us have been trained that, if something isn't working out. . .exactly the way you planned. . .all of the time, then drop that shit like a hot potato and move on to something else. In reality, being married requires quite a bit of work and too many people go into it with unreasonable expectations. . .recipe for failure.
 
It can work - I have a friend that had a similiar situation with a girl from Vietnam - they have been married for 4 years and together for 7.
