Ok, name who you think is the best guitarist

I realize this is primarily a matter of personal taste and will lend itself to subjectivity, but I wanna hear who you all consider to be the greatest.

Out of everyone I've really listened to, I have to go with SRV (Stevie Ray Vaughan). His style is so clean, it's like each note he plays cuts through my brain like it's butter. And he has superb tone and technique, and it was like his guitar was an extension of his soul.

RIP.

Hendrix, Clapton and Mark Knopfler are up there on my list too. Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai....

Two other favorites are Tom Petty and Slash, just because I like their sound as well, and I grew up listening to their music, and still am fond of it.

I vote for Jimmy Page. He wasn't necessarily the most skillful technician on the instrument, but he was creative, could play in a variety of styles, and was a great writer and arranger as well. Jeff Beck was the better guitarist, but he didn't have the complete package.

SRV is a valid choice. Like razortwigs said though, there is no clear winner.

Luckily we can all agree Ryan Cabrera is amazing.
