John Sykes is fucking awesome. Probably one out of ten of you know who he is. Listen to Whitesnake's 1987 release with Still of the Night. He did all the guitar on that album. He also started a band called Blue Murder after that. Fucking incredible.

1/100 knows who he is, and that's sad.

Still Of The Night is a classic but so is the whole W's 1987 album. IMO

Fantastic player.

Telecasters have their place for certain styles of music (i still use my fender for country/bluegrass and blues licks).

But i love my Les Paul for that "heavy shit!". Les Paul Custom, EMG 81/85.

Here's a song I wrote this evening at my singer's pad with it. I'm gonna add a bridge, a solo, and he's gonna add the vocals on top with some keyboards this weekend than mix it.

It's very "current" sounding and definately written to sound bad-ass live!.

right-click, save-as i think. (1.6megs).

Simple and commanding riffs. Are you dropped D or C#? You have great tone, which guitarists today don't know shit about. Alot of riffs I've been writing lately sound alot like that, but I'm trying to play alot more melodic and getting away from all the power chords. I love my power chords though.
My custom has 81/85 EMG's as well. Our tone sounds alot alike. What are you playing thru? I get all my sound thru stomp boxes.
From amp to guitar go's like this.
MXR smart gate
Digitech Digiverb
Arion Stereo Chorus(cheap but fat chorus sound)
DOD strereo flanger
DOD 7 band eq
Digitech metal master
Arion Compressor
I power my sound with a Laney mxd120 w/s4x12Laney/Randall2x12/1x15 cab.
I love the low end from the 15"eminence legaend in the Randall cabinet. It's fucking crazy.
I just bought two days ago a brand new discontinued ESP/LTD K-500. Les Paul style body with EMG's, with a tonepro's bridge and a black satin finish. Plays like a dream and alot lighter than a Gibson.
I'm changong the bridge emg hz out with a dimarzio x2n. That will be a great sound. I love the x2n's.

My biggest influences on guitar are George Harrison & John Lennon, Pete Townshend, and Page. Harrison, Lennon, and Townshend probably have more of an influence on me, but Page is the best musician out of that bunch so he's the one I chose for this thread.

Damn, old man!! j/k I actually dig some Harrison's and Lennon's stuff. I astill love their version of Helter Skelter. Bad ass.

Exactly! It amazes me how so many people think he's just "an Ozzy guitarist".

The Black Label Society show at House of Blues here in anaheim sold out in 2 hours!! Goddammit!!!! Fucking bikers. :(

I have tickets to the Covington, Ky show for the 25th. Should be crazy!
Pride and Glory was off the hook. Lomenzo laid some fat fucking bass lines on that album. I loved Zakk's raw sound and energy.

I agree with Razorguns and el dandy, and shall add ...

Alexi Laiho - Children of Bodom
Dave Murray, Adrian Smith - Iron Maiden
Glenn Tipton, KK Downing - Priest
Jonathan Donais - Shadows Fall
Jari Maenpaa - Winersun/ex. Ensiferum

All I can think off at the moment.

Wootoom, KsE has 2, but I believe you're referring to Adam Dutkewitz (sp?). :)
