i don't see it as a big deal. my gf freaked out when she found out i let her daughter walk up to the bus stop in the morning without me. she has to go about 100-150 feet then about 10 feet around the corner to wait with the other kids. she knows that if she gets to the corner and no one is there, she is to walk right back to the house.

i have to leave the house about 5 minutes after she does. i always drive past the bus stop and some mornings i'm right behind the bus, watching her get on. she's 7. i don't see it as a big deal. she's come back to the house a few times and told me no one was there (because i got her out the door a few minutes late and she missed the bus...whoops!)

there's other kids there and at least one parent that's there every single morning.

this summer will be interesting because she's going to want some freedom to roam aruond the neighborhood. establishing those rules will be interesting.
