The first couple of weeks are the toughest, the change in your diet is going to stress you out.

you already know there is alot of info on here to help you

Chicky I don't recommend you do a no carb diet.... It's not healthy.

You should probably follow Shadow's diet like Jens said, lots of the girlies on here have seen good results on it.

Low carb is difficult as a mofo, so I cant imagine a no carb. Seriously, do you plan on staying in bed all day, and away from people. Your attitude gonna be so shitty, and you'll prolly feel like doing nothing. I swear I thought I was on some serious drugs when I tried low carb. Whatever your decision I wish you the best of luck, you know we got your back.

Well i figured i would do 3 days on and one meal off
I cant take some of the meds either because of my crohns disease. I actually think if i cut out breads and stuff, i hope i do fine anyway:)
Ive been on and off diets all my life and gone from calorie counting to watching fat intake
and i think this is wayyyy different
Im gonna study shadows plan and see what i can do

Hey girl! IMHO, I would not go No carb if you've been yo-yo dieting all your life... kinda setting yourself up for failure before you even start, but that's just my opinion...

If you decide to use The Project Diet, be sure to tweak it to your needs, other foods can be substituted, it's a great base to start from... I'm definitely proof of that.

"No carb" is essentially the Atkins Diet. It is completely miserable. Your brain needs carbs to run on. You can do it for a period of time and you will lose weight - initially water weight because carbs require water to hold them. No carbs, you dump the water. However that isn't really what you are after - you want to lose bodyfat. And you also cant' maintain a no carb diet over a long period of time and as soon as you introduce them back in, you gain it back.

Shadow's project is a great do-able way to start. If a diet is miserable you just simplly won't stick with it. Its supposed to be part of your life style.

As for the supps on Shadow's plan -- you don't have to take them all...tweak to what you can take, if any....

As Bunny said....you don't have to follow Shadow's plan to a T -- substitutions can be made -- I made a LOT of subs & still did well....

And as Sassy said -- you need some carbs to be healthy. When I did NO carbs on Atkins I felt like shit & when I introduced them back in, I got the shits....sorry to be graphic. With your "situation" I don't think you need any more issues with that than necessary......

Start making some small changes -- post up what you eat & we'll help you make the right choices. THIS IS NOT A DIET!! It's eating for health & optimum performance of your body. You wouldn't drive your car with no water or radiator fluid would you??

Plan your meal schedule ahead of time. Look at Shadow's plan for guidance. Probably include some carb w/ your first meal -- e.g. oatmeal.

ok eating with a bit of carbs will be easier than no carbs......just the right carbs right?
 
At least your partner is eating the same way. When I'm low carbing it kills me that my husband is eating ice cream, crackers, and the like.

I'll cheer you on all the way girly. ;)
 
ok here is my plan for the evening meal
3-4 chicken breasts baked
1/2 cup of french style green beans
and at least 16 oz water

can i add or take from that somehow?
 
oh and the breasts arent BREASTS.....they are like tenders.....can get a lb for 1.79 and easier and quicker to cook
dang that made me look like a big piggy (*@*)

lol thanks bunny:) it was my motivation

yeah im exercising. im not lifting weights. hammy has some here that he needs to show me how to use them correctly
i walk like 40 mins at a time roughly 3 miles
ok and i have a question on the flax oil.....i dont know how much all these things will mess with my crohns disease and i really dont want to chance it.....can i just take multi vitamins?
im supposed to take those anyway
 
Hey!

I don't like oatmeal, and it pushes my carb count too high for the day so my breakfast is:

2 hard boiled eggs, whites only (or just one yolk if I feel like I have to have it)
3 strips lean turkey bacon.

I'm a bread lover, so if I crave bread, I'll have 2 slices of Natures Own low carb wheat. If I want butter on my bread, I leave out the turkey bacon.

Snacks are usually protein shake smoothies, but sometimes I'll have a 1/2 a sandwich with fat free mayo.

Lunches are chicken breast, and veggies.

Dinner is chicken again, unless I'm not in the mood, then I'll have tuna, hard boiled egg whites mixed in with a tablespoon of fat free mayo. I'll put it on a bed of lettuce or eat it with triscuits.

I'm on YIM a lot during the day if you want to chat about diet... LOL. My id is Syber_Cherry

BEEN THERE!!!

It wasn't until in Jan 05 that I ate 5+ times a day, smaller meals, then added weight training/cardio and who knew, it works! Supps, if any, if at ALL, can come later, don't worry about those.

Eating 5-6 (or even 7-8) small meals is HARD to adjust to... but I agree with the ladies who say DIET is key & the MOST IMPORTANT part of a training program/lifestyle/healthy way of life etc...

You can do it girl :heart:

and i want to lose this soooooo bad and i knowwww changing my eating style is the key
i told the rodent we arent gonna buy snacky stuff anymore

Check with your doctor....

Other healthy fats include: All Natural PB, All Natural Almond Butter, avocados, Safflower Oil, Olive Oil, Almond Oil, Walnut Oil, walnuts, almonds, ground flax meal....

A multi is a good idea, but you need healthy fats/Essential fatty acids & that is not normally included in a multi
 
Everyone has to start somewhere Klu. When I joined the site I was using fitday to track my food intake and was eating 6-700 calories a day. Oh the horror. Now I get all moody if I've not chowed in 2.5 hours. lol

As for snacky stuff-- I think you can keep stuff around. When I'm craving carbs and junk a tablespoon of natural pb or some almonds or pecans usually helps me out. Plus they're easy to carry around with you in a bag in your purse for emergencies. :)

And, even when the scale doesn't budge people tell me I"m shrinking, hahahahhaahhaha. Take baby steps with your eating, and eventually it'll be second nature. We're all here for you.

Brown rice is fine. I try to eat in the earlier part of the day. Green Beans should be fine too. I try to keep my complex carbs early, although sometimes I do eat them towards the end. It'll all work out in the long run, just make sure you are eating.

i ate lunch around 1pm
i still dont have it down what to eat between lunch and dinner....dinner is around 5 pm
because right now im hungry grrrrrr

Well, you need another meal between a 1pm lunch & a 5pm dinner....

Can you have nuts?? How about a small handful (like 1/4 cup) almonds or peanuts?? Or maybe some 1% fat cottage cheese with sliced almonds on top??

yummy that sounds good although i dont have any cottage cheese but we have GOT to go to the store
can i eat plain fat free yogurt or what brand do u suggest? or can i eat the yogurt with fruit in it?

I find cott. cheese more filling, especially with the almonds on it....Also you get "more" of it for the same amount of cals in a tiny thing of yogurt.....

Or top the CC with chopped tomatoes or peaches....

Yogurt is OK, just watch the sugar content
 
Lifting weights will help you burn more calories. You will not get BIG from lifting. It will help your metabolim as well. So will eating every 3 hours. At first because of the way you have been eating you will not always be hungry every three hours but with a steady schedule of it and intesnse workouts you will soon know...awe damn...it must be three hours cause I am starving!

but maybe a few wont hurt.
I cant eat raw veggies.....like broccoli cauliflower,or green peppers
some fruits hurt my stomach like the peels on apples or even grapes.
but the fruits im not worried about cuz i can peel the apple:)
and i was told that corn isnt good anyway on a diet so thats ok, i cant really eat that either
but right now, thats all I can think of

Can you eat cooked broccoli, cauli & peppers?? Can you have greens? ie spinach, dark lettuces??

Corn has too much sugar....

Get FF mayo....the salmon in the pouch is good too -- good fats & tasty!
 
yes i can have cooked veggies. Im not really sure why raw veggies hurt me.
and Im steering clear of corn lol

I couldn't live without my fat free dressing. If you search the labels, you can find some dressings that are ok carb/fat wise. My current fave is a sesame ginger dressing from my local organic food store. It is soooo yummy.

Are you getting ready for a competition? If not I would think that you could have a few extras in your diet (such as dressing... lol)

If you can't find dressing that you like, etc -- mix 1 tblsp Olive Oil + a little Apple Cider, Balsamic or Red Wine Vinegar + spoonful of thawed frozen OJ + pepper + mustard.

ok ill get some dressing too....going on my list...
i will eat the eggs when i can, but for now the oatmeal fills me up
maybe when i get the tuna ill make the salad with the eggs

it was the mexican pizza rolls and dang they smelled good...and i was thinking....well one wont hurt

You're probably de-toxing......it'll go away eventually, hang in there....

And you need protein during the day - not just at dinner time...
 
ok yesterday i had oatmeal for breakfast and again at 11am
had steak strips for midday meal
and for dinner had
chicken witha bit of bbq sauce
and brown rice
trying to spice up the chicken some
 
ok dang this weekend
Saturday morning oatmeal
then later had some more oatmeal
then i screwed the whole day up and ate a burger:( but then yogurt and cottage cheese
 
sunday i did ok...had oats at 8 am then 2 scrambled eggs at 11 ....
apple at 1 pm
but we went to the movies and i ate some popcorn which i shouldnt have done
and i had a scare for a couple days that i was getting shingles...and i just went to bed instead of eating cuz i felt bad
monday was much better(no shingles but face still feels weird)
breakfast oatmeal 1/2 cup
11 am =2 eggs
2 pm 1 apple
5 pm 2 slices of roast/ 1/2 cup rice/ 2 devilled eggs(with a bit of mayo/mustard and splenda)
8 pm yogurt
bedtime yay
 
Can you start taking Acyclovir (prescription) to prevent shingles outbreaks?? Would it work for that?? (I take it so I don't get cold sores)

Im not sure....but Sunday i woke up with the right side of my face feeling painful and tingly....and ive had shingles on myf ace before
and hammy almost made me go to the ER but i cant afford it because I dont have healthcare ...shingles on the face is the most painful place to get it
we went to the movies but by the time we got out, i had to take my contact out because it was burning.
Maybe it was just nerves tho, ive been on edge lately about stuff
but i guess after looking at my diet, i didnt go THAT much off my diet....jsut that danged popcorn lol

Well, cold sores, shingles & chicken pox are all forms of the Herpes virus. Since I get cold sores on my mouth & nose & 1x in my eye -- I can't afford to get breakouts - especially not in my eye again. So I take 'scrip Zovirax - well actually the generic Acyclovir to prevent outbreaks. I just wonder if it would be worth asking your Doc if it would help. I get no outbreaks as long as I take my meds....

yeah thats what i took when i had shingles before

its getting better now.....scared me for a little while and i kept telling him i wasnt gonna go but he would say you have to do something...it was kinda sweet

Glad it's better.... :heart: But if you keep taking the Zovirax (pill 1x a day) then maybe you wouldn't get the outbreaks or the sensations of them..... I sometimes still get the "sensations" of an outbreak & it's uncomfortable!

Acyclovir is the generic for Zovirax -- I take 1 400mg pill per day.....

To me, it's worth it....
 
OK girls im pleased with myself.....i can tell a difference in my body
my clothes are fitting better yayyyyy
Yesterday was kinda bad...i was sick so i ate soup
i ate soup and then for dinner i was feeling better so i ate some chicken and green beans
and then more chicken later

Yesterday was kinda bad...i was sick so i ate soup
i ate soup and then for dinner i was feeling better so i ate some chicken and green beans
and then more chicken later
