I disagree as it's gotten back on topic & has been (generally) respectful....

If we can keep it that way, it can stay open.....

NYC - EXCELLENT post!!

I've always wondered this myself....

I'm pregnant & you've convinced me not to abort yet I still don't want the child, nor can I take care of it. Will you (anti abortion person) do it for me??? Or is it enough to simply carry a sign to protest the practice??

Yes as a matter of fact I would in a heartbeat! Given the fact that I myself am adoptoed..and my sister and brother are as well (and we are not blonde and blue eyed thank you), and the fact that I am now suffering from secondary infertility...I WOULD ADOPT AND TAKE CARE OF ANY CHILD!!!

Which, is also, extremely selective as most people don't want to adopt: older children, children of color, etc & only want the blonde-haired, blue-eyed kids.

Plus a lot of people want "their own" children & don't see adoption as an option. They are willing to spend thousands of dollars at a fertility clinic to do so.....Thus, unfortunately, adoption is not a reality for many people....

Yeah, WTF is the point of having kids and going through raising a family if it's not for your own DNA propagation?

I'm adopted too btw......

However, I'm still for choice as I feel it's up to the individual to make their own choices. I don't feel as if I should foist my own beliefs onto someone else......

Those of us that are pro-choice are trying to see things from every angle. At least look.
It is clear that there is no fine line. but I am able to cover up the images of murder or cruelty by thinking of myself in the position and get some kind of gratification that i would not have know if i was aborted and also realize there would of been no real pain from this. So to think that If my mother would of aborted me and this may have lead to her having a better life. Lessening the load giver her a chance at college or other thing she was prevented from. I see no harm.

and since there would be no pain to myself or a since of lose of something i had never experienced. I Can justify my thoughts. I have never though back about that time and felt sad because I was almost aborted. Because it was suggested to her.

Do people really feel anger that they could of been aborted?
Maybe this gives people that have been adopted a better feeling. When they are sad that there parents gave them up instead of feeling down they say well Hell I guess they could of went with the other choice and aborted me. And by comparing the 2 feel they got the better end of the deal.

But I cant help but think what if you were adopted my a rapist or child molester and this caused you a life of depression and sadness. Again if you would have been aborted you would have never known the difference. You would of never seen light. Never had a thought or a memory. To me even though you had a shape you would have not been alive yet anyway.

Do pro-lifers also feel that if a person is in a vegetable sate close to or even brain dead.
They should be kept alive at all costs??

And do U all hate me because my spelling and grammar sucks :D

As an adopted child - I don't feel anger that I could have been aborted. I wouldn't have known would I?? However, in 1969 it really wasn't an option anyway......Now I might *still* have existed in another body, etc - but who knows??

Now my adoptive parents were bad parents.....but that's another story for another day.....

really? so who determines what steps you take to try to raise kids? Is adoption before invitro fertilization? is adoption before having a surrogate mother carry your embryo to term? Or does one adopt simply because it is their choice?

Now lets have a thoughtful, rational discussion here. To make this work (like it would for some people) lets assume that more than one of these choices work for the person we're talking about. It's not hard to make the choice when you're in a situation where physically only one of these scenarios is an option. Let's leave cost out for the moment too

but this is what im talking about. you voice you opinion and everyone says "yea jenscats, your the greatest" then someone with less reputation voices their opinion and its foisting their beliefs on others.

Maybe it's the fact you have more of an impact on the child's life and eventual success in life than a sperm donor who dropped and ran. IMO, nuture is 90% of a child's development and nature(genetics) is the rest, assumming no major genetic birth defects.
