Have you seen the list of proposed cuts they would support? The vast majority of those cuts, virtually 3/4 of them, are cuts to programs that benefit the poor and support the arts and humanities. In a time when most school districts are cutting funding to the art programs the last thing we need to do is make further cuts to what little culture this nation has. It's been proven that regular exposure to the arts and music improves children's scores on I.Q. tests.
Oh, and the other big cut is to Amtrak, when gas prices are rising and ridership is at the highest point it's been in ages. Unfortunately, rails are just like roads, they NEED to be maintained. Talk about energy independence, one of the ways we can become independent is by increasing the use of public transportation, not cutting funding to it.
An we can't keep dumping everything back on states. One, states are going bankrupt. Two, if you dump it on states, then that means increase in state taxes. Am I the only one that noticed that Ryan refused to answer Biden when Biden accused them of potentially eliminating the mortgage interest deduction?
