Anyone belong to a New York powerlifting gym?

I live in Long Island and was wondering if there was any around here.

If so, give some details and if you follow any specific programs.

no, but i'm just down the road from you- i go to worlds, but its now called "underground". Its the gym thats below the courtesy crack motel. they have a good amount of freeweight, benches, etc.

haha Courtesy is the welfare motel.... i took a girl there once and was like wtf happened to this place...It used to be a normal motel, I think they use it for welfare housing now...

Your gym is the one that used to be a bolwing alley..

Thanks for the info on Iron Island. I might check it out.

yes, welfare, crack whores, you name it, but the gym downstairs is $99 a year (not affiliated with the hotel) and 20,000 square feet, mostly freeweights and hammerstrength machines, which is what i want. the roof leaks and the bathrooms are gross, but you get what you pay for.

lol wtf that is the second time i heard that.. maybe I should change it.. i think 1 guy really thinks im some arab.. calling me a towel head..

Sound likethe perfect gym, although the hammer strength reaks of bodybuilders. Are they a problem there? Hole in the wall (hardcore) gyms are great because most people who are thereare there to lift, not socialize and look like supermodels like they do int he larger foo-foo gyms!

there's a little of both- its very cheap and no frills but of course there are young guys with very little muscle posing and pretending like they are 'buff'. i couldn't care less about that- there aren't a lot of powerlifters there (i may be the only one- thats what i've heard but its open 24 hours- i can't imagine there aren't any more at some other time of day), but enough equipment and nobody bothers me.
