No Lunks!!

So i was watching The John Stewart show tonight, and they had a bit about some guy who got kicked out of Planet Fitness. he looked like a dip shit, so I didn't think much of it, until they showed one of their guys interviewing a woman from Planet Fitness.

The shit she said, both made me laugh and pissed me off. They actually have a "No Lunks" alarm that goes off when someone drops a weight or grunts. I thought this was a joke. Then I looked up the companies web page. What a load of crap! The lady even said they don't want bodybuilders or meatheads, and some shit about those animals can go be in a cage together somewhere.

If I worked out there, I would fucking blow that fucking place up, right after punching everyone in there in the throat.

anyway, enough of my rant. here's the link-

https://www.planetfitness.com/

What a joke. Isn't that discrimination? What if a gym didn't allow fat people? They'd get sued.

Sadly, ^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^ place is where I am forced to have a membership and work out. It sucks, buy there are NO quality gyms in my area that have the equipment or selection this place does. I also pay $10 a month, as opposed to going to a crappy local gym with minimal equipment and having to spend close to $50 a month.

This is one of the reasons I am trying to get core pieces of equipment, and just set up shop in my finished basement. No travel, supplements on hand, my own shower, and I can do as I please.

my friend was telling me about that the other day.

that's why you don't go to planetshitness

there's a reaosn it's like $10 a month or some shit

I was in their gym, good selection of machines, people grunt, they dont care, people drop weights, they dont care, only heard alarm once and it was because there was a fight going on...

Yeah I go to planet , I love it cause I get everything to myself !! and I haven't got in trouble yet for dropping weights , but manager looks over at me sometimes like I'm gonna break the weights or something, he's fat lol!! they have signs on the walls saying no chalk and no muscle shirts lmao , havent gave me trouble for It yet

What a crock of shit that place is. Wow no bodybuilders? We only want fat out of shape people so that our staff will look better. That is a joke.

At least they are upfront about it.
Why do you even care? Most of their gyms don't have ane equipment anyone serious about bodybuilding would want anyway

I think we care because it's discrimination saying that we are all alike , thinking we slam the weights to be tough , there not too smart at all because they lose alot of clients saying crap like that

Makes about as much sense as a sign saying "NO FIREARMS ALLOWED" at a shooting range!

If I tried to lift with no chalk, I'd have blisters that would last a month, and if I tried to work out with a regular shirt, I'd rub the skin off my armpits. Place must be owned by a skinny dude with a hormone imbalance and an inferiority complex.

Hahaha yeah man . That's what I think too, dude must have been picked on by bodybuilders at Golds Gym or something and he's like I'm going to make my own gym where u guys can't come !!

The planet fitness by me is freaking huge. Lots of ellipticals/treadmills/stationary bikes...some random machines, but a pretty pathetic selection as far as any serious weight training goes. I used to go when I was home from college for the summers because I didn't have to sign a contract.

I kind of understand their little alarms. Anyone doing work serious enough to require grunting doesn't belong there anyways. My gym now is like half as big and has twice as much useful equipment.

Planet Fitness also has candy up front and serve bagels certain Mondays and pizza on certain Fridays. Lolol So oooobv it's not a place for people looking to make real progress. It's a gym you go to just so you can say you went to the gym today.

it's :rainbow: but, it's their place and they should be allowed to run it the way that they want to...personally, i think a bar owner should still be allowed to decide whether he/she wants to allow people to smoke in his/her establishment...you don't wanna breathe smoke?? stay the fuck out of that bar.

i honestly don't know how a place can charge only $10 a month and stay in business...that's the part that boggles my mind...buildings are expensive, equipment is expensive, utilities are expensive, employees are expensive, repairs and maintenance are expensive...i just don't understand how they get it done. they must have like a thousand members signed up for monthly auto-debit, but only a couple hundred actually show up to work out on a regular basis??

They are actually smart if you think about it

They can run there business however they want. This is there rulz, get over it.

Smart for them because they know many people who aren't that serious will use it a few times a week. They aren't really hard on weights or equipment cause they can't lift heavy. Many will sign up cause there are no meat heads, and they wont ever use there membership cause they aren't going to life anyway. If you don't like the way they do it, then open your own gym and run it the way you think it should be ran.

It's still discrimination man , no other gym in the world that just has bodybuilders says "no skinny mofos who use the squat rack for curls can come here " ,, now would we like to "yes" but we can't because it's discrimination

It's not discrimination. There are a number of clubs that don't allow bandannas, jerseys, hats, etc to be worn. Is that banger discrimination? Get some vibram wearing faggot doing pilates at muscle beach and see if he's run off. Is that discrimination? They can run their business the way they want.

No offense man, but I've seen your pics. If you bought large shirts I doubt you'd have that problem.

you want to see discrimination, go on some golf courses in t-shirts and shorts. You will see discrimination.

Some restaurants only allow suit jackets

I went to a gym that was ran like a country club. No bodybuilders there, and for a reason. So I decided instead of trying to fix that gym, i'd just go to golds where i like the atmosphere. If you don't like planet, go somewhere else.

OK, I see there is some difference of opinion on the rules, and I do agree 100% that a business owner should have the right to set a dress code or rule on smoking or not, shirt or not, etc.... But my point still stands, that if you call your business by a name that indicates a place to go work out, and if most people want to wear muscle shirts when they work out, and that's the case at least in all the gyms I've been in, they should be allowed. If they look ridiculous in a muscle shirt because they're skinny, obese, way steroid-bulked out, or whatever, THEY're the ones who look goofy, and I don't care if some other bro looks goofy. I look goofy anyway, with any clothes.... There should be a rule that the muscle shirt (and all other gym clothing) needs to be clean and not walk in with it stinky, because otherwise it's offensive to others working out, and that's rude & disrespectful. If you want to set a dress code requiring sleeved shirts, and to rule out any sounds such as grunting or banging plates, etc., and you are selling bagels and pizza, it should be called "Planet Social Club" in stead of "Planet Fitness". Of course I don't want to see pit hair while I'm eating in an expensive restaurant, so obviously that's where you have a regular shirts-only rule. Just to clarify, I think most dress codes are BS, except for in church, school, and courtrooms. As long as you smell good, and appear clean, it shouldn't matter what style of clothes you have on, to play golf, eat in a restaurant, or sit in a theater. But again I do respect the rights of all business owners, and therefore I won't break the rules or argue them. I will simply not go in businesses where I don't agree with the rules.

this ^^^^ precisely...i never liked going to bars because i don't like breathing smoke and, now that you can't smoke in most of them in pa anymore? meh, i still don't like going to bars because they're usually full of drunk fucking assholes, many of whom are aggravated because they need a smoke :lmao:

and a gym with a restrictive dress and conduct code? not my cup of tea...they're not going to get any of my money...but, if they can be profitable with that type of business model?? more power to'em!! let the free market take care of itself.

As far as I know, PF doesn't ban muscle shirts. They ban sandles, which is a good safety precaution IMO, boots, jeans and skull caps. I dont think that's that big of a deal. Most of those things people should wear to work out anyways.

I hated Planet Fitness, just sayin though, their 'dress code' isn't particularly out of line.

Weird, not at the one I went to. I worked out in tank tops every day. It's been years since I belonged to one though.

The one I go to only bans "String Tank Tops". Sleeveless and tank tops are welcome, but the really thin sting type are not. I purposely asked, and they reiterated it's corporate franchise policy.

In a way, I can see that. String or "racer-back" tanks let bare skin touch the benches and machines, and that's a health hazard.

Its not discrimination, its like a country club such as Augusta, You cannot get in unless you look the part and if you stray you are kicked out.

Somewhat, but not quite. You're told the policy, and have to sign off on it. It's your choice to join or not, as you're told the rules up front. No way to claim discrimination when it done that way.
