Nikolai Tesla damn this guy was smart.

Anyone know how he died? Supposedly he invented a death ray that could shoot down airplanes as far as 200miles. Wondered whatever happened to that?

He also talked about stuff like a plan to transmit free electricity into the atmosphere, unlimited power that could be utilized anywhere on earth, and how anti-gravity airships could draw power from the towers he was building.

Bad ass band, one of my favorites. One time in science class we had to write about an inventor and I chose him and copied a bio about him directly from a Tesla album jacket, got an A. :fro:

Nature and Nature's laws lay hid in night
God said "Let Tesla be" and all was light

This is embarrassing on so many levels.

Tesla was tall (six foot six IIRC).
Tesla was smart.
Tesla also was nuts and got more and more nuts over time.
He thought that he could channel Martians and hear them through his head.
He got more and more paranoid as his schizophrenia got worse as he aged.

It is interesting how something can go "boing" in your head and it unlocks a world to you, allowing you to make brilliant insights, but it also opens you to a world that isn't there as well.
Hence the phrase "there is a fine line between insanity and genius" or however it goes.
Far better than being "normal" I would guess.

One could argue that perhaps they aren't nuts and instead they are more in tuned with the world, that they really are talking to Martians. But if you read up on more of his life, there are plenty of areas where it is clear he is just plain old nuts by the end.

He had total and absolute aversions to touching human hair and he couldn't stand pearls of all things - found both things disgusting.

Hey, the guy invented electricity - give him a break.

He invented it?

I assume that is shorthand for "he discovered alternating current and patented it" or something.

discovery and invention are two very different things

I discovered masturbation when I was young, but I sure as hell didn't invent it.

You know what I mean. Dont act like alternating current wasnt the greatest scientific invention in the history of mankind. It is.

He's right and you're right. He didn't invent it. But nobody invents anything, we just discover how to harness certain things.

I can't wait until they crack gravity and harness it, as it will unleash a new era just like the discovery of electricity did...

Gravity, magnetism, electricity. Master these, and you master the universe.

The funny thing is without xrays the greastest "Discovery" of them all would not exist! For better or worse he helped to start the 22 century with a blast without even knowing it! Rip!

He also built the "famous Telsa coil" that monster would throw out gigantic lightning bolts all over the place.
There are now smaller versions in science labs in schools..it looks like a chrome ball touching it will cause the hair on your head to stand up.
I have considered building a big one once but scrapped the idea as being too dangerous!

Yeah man...that guy made advanced studies in electricity..I remember the "Tesla Coil". Large part of the studies and research for developing new technology on war weapons come from the studies made by our friend Tesla.
