Newbie older guy needs advice

Hey there,

New guy here. Read the rules, hopefully I’m doing everything right with this post.

Been training ten years pretty seriously. I’m 46 years old and I’m beginning to hit some walls. Prior to training I was a pretty unathletic guy and when I started hitting the gym – did it full force. I’m very informed when it comes to diet and general training, but not very informed about the types of things addressed in this forum.

I’m 5’6” and I currently weigh 170. 16” arms, 44” chest, 32” waist, 23” thighs, 15” calves – not a big buy, but I work out at a gym oriented toward bodybuilding – as opposed to a poser gym – and I’m pretty strong when I compare myself to other guys there.

I’m considering doing a bulking and cutting cycle – one time each just to get a bit of mass and get ahead of the aging curve a little. I suspect as I’m aging I’m getting a little low in testosterone or have some estrogen issues, but when I’ve been tested at the docs, he says everything is within "normal limits" – whatever that means.

I’m just at the beginning of my research on this matter, but based on some “beginner cycles” listed on a site, this is what I’m considering:


Bulking
Cycle Length and layout:
Length 10 weeks
Weeks 1-4 GP Methan10 40 mg per day
Weeks 1-10 500mg GP Test Cyp per week
Weeks 1-10 GP Anastrozole .5 mg per day (continue to run this for 10 days after cycle)


Cutting
Cycle length and layout:
Length 8 weeks
Weeks 1-8 100 mg GP Test Prop every other day.
Weeks 3-8 40 mg GP Stan 10 per day.
Weeks 1-8 GP Anastrozole .5 mg per day (continued for at least 10 days after cycle.)



Aside from the general newbie comments you guys will probably throw my way, is there anything I’m missing with regards to doing this? As I said, I just starting the research, and I’m not going into this blithely or lightly. Trying to do everything right and learn as much as I can before hand.

Wow, thought I asked some reasonable questions.
I see people getting ready to do some insanely reckless things and everyone jumps at those posts.

Ur bulking cycle looks ok, a lot of people think it's pointless to run adex right off the bat, keep on hand till u need it, maybe get some forma stanzol and hcgenerate on cycle. Pct u could get some clomid and/or some unleashed/post cycle. I see your 170lbs just curious, what's ur height? There are some real smart people on here, they will get u in the right direction, good luck to ya sir.

The Clomid was something I had thought about. I've been reading needtogetaas's 101 info and he mentions some sexual side effects with it and Nolvadex. Won't even consider Nolvadex PCT because of all the scary ass toxic carcinogen issues with it and what he said about it raising serum estrogen levels and the need to take another drug with it to knock out that side effect. (at least that was my understanding of what he said)

I read somewhere that the XanthoparmElia Scabrosa in Unleashed might be somewhat toxic - but as with everything else you read on the Internet - gotta do the research and ask folks who know...could br total bullshit for all I know. I'm jut trying to keep things as basic - yet effective and SAFE as I can - and not try to do too much at once. I DO see what you're saying about the adex on a first cycle for sure. Just need to make sure I have everything I need for PCT BEFORE I get anything going.

I REALLY appreciate your help. You asked how tall I was. I'm 5 foot 6. Weigh 170. 46 years old. 16 inch arms, 44 inch chest, 23 inch legs, 15 inch calves. when I started working ou ten years ago, I weighed 135 to give you an idea how far I've come. I have a pic posted. You can see how things look so far. Not tryingto get totally huge. Just want to add more bulk and then cut down after and it has proved impossible any other way.

Hello fellow old-timer (I'm 41). Consider running some GH releasing peptides along WITH your Vitamin-S cycle. Good luck.
 
I agree with the above ,but keep your first cycle to Test only.
 
REal quick...

To me, a "first cycle" is a couple of dbol a day for 3 weeks.


Xanthoparmillia is non toxic and has even been shown to reduce the growth of cancer cells. There was one sketchy study that showed taking 10 times the RDA was toxic. Well, anything in that high a dosage is.

If you're planning on doing those cycles back to back, it's going to be a rough recovery at age 46. Don't try to broadjump a mile. Many small steps will get you there.
 
yeah i hope that you are going to take a nice long break in between cycles.

also you dont have to cut/bulk/cut/bulk over and over.

i wouldnt start w/ dbol at 40mg. 20mg should be fine 30 is more than enough for a first cycle.

take the adex or whatever anti e as needed. see how you react and how you bloat up. especially if you lower the dbol dosage you might not need that much.

2nd cycle i would stay with a long acting test. im not a fan of daily or eod injects... never really saw the point. for cutting the ester wont make much of a difference.. imo the compounds dont make much of a difference until you are under 7% bf.

id plan out your first cycle and pct and start with that. after you run that and recover you should reasses your goals and situation and see where you are at and then start planning your 2nd cycle.
 
GREAT Info. On the deal with the Xanthoparmillia – I had read a bunch a great things about it and then I came across this one article about it – but as I said – I try to do a whole bunch of research before I do anything - and whoever posted that article could have been behind the marketing a competing product – or any number of other things….and yeah you are right - ANYTHING in a high enough dose is toxic. I grew up with older parents that were WAY into health food and nutrition and supplements and it’s amazing what the FDA and the AMA has to say about a lot of the stuff that they take.

I’m really trying to be slow, gradual and careful about this. I should have clarified that I was planning on taking a LONG break between bulking and cutting - and paraphrasing what Tom said - I plan to do the first thing and then reassess things.

I’m really not looking to get huge: I would not mind adding a little bulk to my legs – and anything with my back, arms and chest would just be a bonus -but I just need a little help getting there…..I’ve trained a ton of different ways - and I know what I’m doing when it comes to training - but I’m hitting walls now.

What would you guys think about doing a cutting cycle FIRST? My thought is that it would still give me a hormonal bump up - and it might be all I really want in the first place. Although I’m not adverse to doing a cycle or two, I just want to get past a few plateaus that have been there for a couple of years now and are getting worse as I age. I thought just doing a cutting cycle might be enough - but using a long acting test so I wouldn't be doing so many sticks. Any ideas on that?
