New to the scene.... Advice needed

So Im just starting back up in the gym. I havent been in a long ass time. Anyway, im looking to shred some fat and build some muscle.

Right now Im 31, 5'11", and 190lbs. (not fat just have some extra belly to get rid of)Not sure of my body fat percentage (im sure its high) I go to the gym 5 days a week, 3 days of heavy lifting with a friend, and 2 days of lite lifting (alone) and cardio.
My diet:
Breakfast: carnation instant breakfast shake with a protein bar (powerbar)

Snack: wheat thins, Nature Valley bar

Lunch: salad with either, tuna, salmon, or chicken

Snack: edamame

Dinner: chicken or salmon with any green veggies

And I drink A LOT of water! Ill also have a protein drink after the gym.

So its only been 2 weeks, i know im not going to see huge results right away but Im looking at Clen to speed up the shredding of fat, and D-Bol to speed up the bulking. Being a virgin to any type of steroids is this a goid starter? Trust me Ive researched, reaf reviews, side effects, etc etc.... Im a lil burned out on the research cause I keep finding other types of pills that its overwhelming. I would just like for someone to give me a sense of direction. What would everyone suggest? Whats good? Whats goid to take together? Etc etc...

Sorry for the long post. Ive been reading a lot of threads and Stats and research is what people are suggesting for others before posting anything.

I figure Id put as much info ad possible.

Thanks in advance

Just read my post. Sorry for the spelling errors. Im using my phone.

Also forgot to list supplements.

I use Cellucor C4 Extreme for pre workout drink
MRI's NO2 Black.

Thats it

Bro after only two weeks in the gym i dont recomend anything, if you stick at it and fix your diet you will lose the fat, check out the diet section in bodybuilding forum

Hey thanks for the response. Do you think the diet im on right now is ok? Im going to check out the diet section and get some ideas.

I try to keep my diet simple since my schedule is kinda crazy right now. I work from 730-4pm mon thru friday. Then I have class from 6-10 mon thru thursday.

Fridays Saturday and Sunday are my heavy lifting, Monday and Tuesday are my lite lifting and cardio.

Im in pretty decent shape. Ive worked out a lot in the past but its been over a year since I've been consistent with the gym.

So hypothetical situation: if I've been actively going to the gym and decided to use D-Bol what would your suggestion be as far as using it alone or stacking with something else. I like to be prepped and ready so when the time is right I'll know what to do.

You're not eating nearly enough for a guy your size...and you're eating too little protein...

Sounds like you're catabolic....

You wanna shred fat right? Don't use dbol. Unless you don't mind water weight.

It's horrible when you come to the forum and don't hear what you want to hear (ie no steroids). But truthfully from what you have said, you seem an intelligent, reasonable person. And at the moment, steroids are not for you in my opinion. I'll justify this now.

Firstly, you dont eat enough. Without eating, there is nothing for the steroids to work with. You'd be missing the point of putting your body in an anabolic state. It's not the steroids that build the muscle. They just give you the boost that allows you to do it yourself. But you must eat as well. That means more then 1 protein shake a day, and a fridge destroying breakfast. Not just a protein bar etc etc.

Secondly, two weeks back in the gym is not enough to justify juicing. You may get some gains yes (if people say you wont, they lie), but with dbol especially, if you stop training and drop back into old habits (not training, training not hard enough) you will lose your gains, or the majority of them. Big mistake bros make is lightening their workout off cycle. Cos it makes your effort on cycle a waste of time.

Thirdly, steroids should not be used as a kickstart. I too thought this, and it's not the way to do things. You should use them to smash through barriers, once you have all the good habits as habit!

The amount of information is indeed overwhelming. My personal feeling is there is no facts relating to anabolic steroids. Only opinion, and experience. Thats cos everyone reacts differently, everyones body is different.

I recommend using cardio and diet to dump that body fat, and then doing a lifting regime, then revisiting this idea at a later date.

So what would you suggest? Im lost when it comes to dieting to gain muscle mass and lose weight. Obviously working out builds the muscle and eating will feed them right? I mean.... Shit now im confused lol.

How about this. If anyone can give me ideas on an appropriate diet for my size where i can shred some fat and still be able to build muscle that would be great. Ill look online as well but its just hard trying to find something simple without actually talking to someone who knows my weight and height etc etc.

Not to be rude but im really looking for more in depth ideas rather then small comments. I need a push in the right direction. Or shove or whatever.
Thanks, i do appreciate the responses. Even little comments followed with examples of what I should be eating for a person my size. Also how much protein should I be consuming?

I recommend taking your pretty good looking diet, and increasing the amount of calories you eat, but keeping it healthy. This will minimise fat gain. So if you ate a chicken breast, eat 3. Your breakfast should be a lot bigger. Triple your protein shakes, and start working out at the gym, lifting as much as you can maintaining good form. Do compound exercises to really tear muscle fibres. So bench press, squats, deadlifts, and military press as a start. Google these for the form. Then move on to isolation excercises. Try and divide your workouts into pushing, pulling, and legs on separate sessions, resting in between.

So like this

Day 1 - Pushing (Start with bench press and military press)
Day 2 - Rest
Day 3 - Pulling (Do pull ups and rows to start)
Day 4 - rest
Day 5 - legs (start with deadlifts and squats to start)

Do some cardio at the weekend. High Intensity interval training. I like to have light lifting sessions with my cardio, but nothing too strenuous. Not prolonged jogging etc, this causes you to dump muscle. Do this for a month, and see what happens - then report back with your results.

Awesome advice bro. Think that's exactly what he was wanting/needing

Perfect! Thats EXACTLY what I was looking for. RICH thank you... I read a lot of things online that show the does and donts about steroids. And then i read what people use and what they stack'em with etc etc. I even read steroids are only really bad for you if your an excessive abuser, infact they can be ok if used properly with other things too. Haven't gotten to far on that yet. But... There isnt really anything that tells (beginners) how, when, and which types to use and what to stack them with. So your response was perfect. Ive got 3 chickens cooking right now along with some veggies. Ive also got 2 nice pieces of salmon baking for my salad tomorrow. Thanks a lot for the advice, And I will be reporting back with more stats in a month or 2 to show gains and fat losses. Also would you recommend any sort of supplements at all? Ive got NO2 that Ive been taking, should I drop that and use something else or just go all natural?

There will be plenty of people that disagree with me here but I am going to tell you what needs changed with your diet... I am a nutritionist, have been for years... If anyone wants to question me thats fine but I believe what I've been able to accomplish for myself speaks for itself on how to eat right, especially in terms of cutting... if your trying to bulk, its definitely a whole other story and i would recommend other things... I think first things first, if you are wanting to shed fat, you don't want to be on a ph right now... i think if you fix your diet and training you can do that alone... then, after you get to a good weight you are happy with, then maybe start a ph to gain some lean body mass... so here's my critique...

your entire breakfast has got to change... carnation breakfast adn the powerbar both have WAY too much sugar in them... honestly, carnation breakfast is a joke and a waste of your money... powerbar is also completely unnecessary... i would drop both of those immediately... i would do egg whites in the morning, or some plain greek yogurt and maybe some sugar free oatmeal... you want to keep your sugar to a minimum when cutting... i ALWAYS tell people cutting to eat white fish and stay away from salmon... if you are trying to put on size, salmon is fine, but definitely not on a cut... there are a bunch of good white fish... (halibut, cod, talapia, pollack, roughy, even shrimp) that are excellent sources of protein with no fat... also, you want to keep your sodium to a minimum... i know sometimes edimame can have a fair amount of sale in it, so watch that... wheat thins are also garbage, need to go... there are plenty of good bars out there to snack on and good protein bars as well that have lower sugar and lower fat... pure protein makes a great protein bar with low sugar... promax also now makes a low sugar protein bar... I would keep the protein high, fat low, sodium and sugar low... also you should look into need2slin as it can help in so many ways... its one of the most versatile supps out there...

your going to need to start adding cardio to your routine... this is the ultimate shredder... i just ran a cycle and i run 25 miles a week and stairclimb 25 miles a week and i still gained 15 lbs. and my body fat dropped... so its possible if you eat right and train right... you don't have to do that amount of cardio, but some will help...

if you ever need any help or advice let me know

Thats what were here for. Cosco will almost take anything back

Yeah i already cut that salmon into smaller fillets.

Let me ask this real quick. Do you think I could bulk up and then cut later? I mean I can give the girls at work the 3 boxes of wheat thins and start snacking on more healthier stuff. But would bulking up first then cutting later work? I mean to he perfectly honest Im not a fat person I just gave a stomach that is a little more out there then I would like.

I just checked this website out that has you enter your height and weight and then it gives you a BMI (body mass index). Mine says 27.2, according to there chart im over weight.

I know these things cant be totally accurate but Im sure its slightly right. Let me know what you guys think?

You're more than welcome bro. I hope the advice serves you well. You also are developing another good habit, without even knowing it. I smell a bright future for you. Pre-cooking your meals is an excellent way to keep your diet on track. When you get home from the gym absolutely aching like hell (which you should, every time - after legs sessions i cant walk at work the next day. Luckily i have an office job and its kind of a running joke now), last thing you want to do is slave over a cooker roasting chicken. But if you have pre-cooked healthy meals, this is not necessary, and then that Mcdonalds doesnt seem as tempting!

Only supplements i would recommend for now is whey protein. Which you need to build your muscle. Nitric Oxide supps are good and do give good pumps, but i find i build a tolerance extremely quickly (like from session to session) so then i have to take more then they give me the shits. But you may be different, and they may serve you well.

Also, bulk first then cut. While you build muscle, you will lose some fat anyway naturally as your frame holds more muscle :)
Bulking inevitably causes some fat gain and its soul destroying seeing a cut body fade behind it lol. That's my opinion anyway. And ignore BMI, it's bollocks. It's an equation that is flawed massively. It would say most of these bros on here are obese, when really, they are just muscle packed monsters haha! Like you will be if you train and eat right!

Thats right! Yeah, McDonalds never sounds good to me. I haven't eaten fast food in 2 years. It was my 2010 new years resolution lol. I guess it just carried over to 2011 and on. Dont even miss it. Well I think Ive got a lot of info and now I just need to reconstruct some of my snacks and add to my breakfast lunch and dinner and go from there.

You guys are awesome, stay tuned for more questions later haha

Their not accuate thats just normal weight. You could hv more muscle than average. You cant go by that. U need to buy a caliper their onlt 7$ on ebay. Not a digital one eigther the small one one its the only wAy

Bare in mind though, an occasional cheat meal can do wonders for your mood, and keep your diet focused. You have to let your hair down occasionally. Personally, i have one cheat meal a week, where i go to town on whatever i fancy. And have a pudding i enjoy.

It really helps me stay focused for the rest of my week on a healthy diet. You will learn what works for you as you do it!

First working out tears down muscle, eating and rest build muscle. Your protein is too low at 190 the minimum I would take is 300 grams a day but 380 is 2 grams a lb so thats your goal. As far as fat only take in good fats and keep carbs in check. If you want to bulk than you have to eat keep cals high. Just because your bulking doesnt mean your going to be a fat ass. As long as you eat good foods you wont gain alot of fat.

So this is probably a stupid question but what are good fats? And how do I consume that much protein in a day? All of this is very helpful to me so thank you for your response. I've always just did my own thing in the gym and couldnt really find a good diet or workout to use. Now since Im getting older and more consious about my health and wanting to look good diets and routines are something I really want to focus on. I guess Im not really sure how much protein is in Salmon, Chicken, or Tuna. Also, about how many grams of Sugar, Sodium and Sugar would you suggest I take in?

You know why u r fat? Because your body has not learned to flush the food it does not need for the day! You eat too less of complex carbs and clean protein. Your above diet is not good enough for burning fat/becoming anabolic. Don't try to cut the calories. Teach the body to flush the food it does not need. Your body does not flush the fat foods, on the other hand it can only flush the excess carbs and protein! It takes weeks until this diet starts working!

If you have good diet habits u could lose fat like crazy! Try to eat complex carbs (slow releasing the calories) like oats through out the day to keep the insulin level the same. Eat 20 percent more than ur maintenance calories, and eat through out the day at least 8 small meals or eat every 2 hours! You don't lose fat on dbol, u could only get sides because your metabolic/anabolic rate is slow to start with. Bitch tits, gyno, bald etc will result. eat as much clean as u can even 5000 calories a day spread evenly in ur 6-8 eight meals will still make u anabolic.

Meal Plan:

For protein - I don't like meal replacements cause they fill me up. but if you do, get no-carb protein powder.
For diet and timing do this: 1/3 of your calories from protein, 2/3 from oats/pasta, and the rest of calories from fat like flax seed oil
oatmeal in morning, egg whites, cranberry juice/water, maybe a small protein
shake. Later on do cardio if you want to cut up. Eat 6-8 smaller meals
spaced evenly through day rather than 3-4 huge meals. This will help speed
up your metabolism and help digest the nutrients better for more effective
use.

DO NOT EAT ANY SUGARS OR SIMPLE CARBS WITHIN AN HOUR OF WORKING OUT!!!
If you do, your pancreas will release insulin to break it down, the insulin tells the ATP to stop converting to ADP releasing
energy, and if you work out, you won't get as effective training and results. When ATP converts to ADP, a phosphate molecule
is released providing energy to flex your muscle - this happens millions of times at once when flexing. Then the phosphate
molecules reattach to ADP to form ATP again. Insulin counteracts that.

DO EAT SUGARS AND SIMPLE CARBS IMMEDIATELY AFTER WORKING OUT!!!
This will release the insulin, stop the ATP ADP cycle, and allow your body to get
energy from the sugars rather than from burning protein (which is needed to
rebuild muscle). Also, you want to replace your glycogen stores for your
next day's workout. Add L-Glutamine to your Gatorade or Cranberry Juice to
help aid in muscle recovery.

DO DRINK A LIQUID PROTEIN SHAKE WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF WORKING OUT!!!
This is when your body is starving for protein. Try to get 50g of liquid protein.
If you eat solid instead, it won't get absorbed as quickly or easily.

DO EAT A GOOD MEAL WITHIN AN HOUR OF WORKING OUT.

You may be full from drinking the cranberry juice after the workout, then the protein shake, but now you should add in your complex carbs such as brown rice, oatmeal,
possibly pasta.

Workout/body build "3 days of heavy lifting with a friend". That's all the work out u need. Go for jogging like 5 minutes HIIT and 5 minutes of jumping ropes 3 times per week.

Eat clean foods like a Glutton as I mentioned earlier , work like a bull for 3 day a week with hiit and jumping included. Try to avoid fat like a plague except 5000 mg of flax seed oil/EFA's.
Additional supplements if needed:
Vitamin C 2000mg/day
Multi-Vitamin every day
Flax Seed Oil 5000mg/day
Cranberry Extract 2000mg/day
Alpha-lipoic acid 500mg/day
Milk Thistle 1500mg/day
Ginger Root 1000mg before main meals
Saw Palmetto every day
Water and cranberry juice (minimum) 1 gallon per day
Protein minimum 1.5 grams per pound/day
L-Glutamine 5000-10000mg/day
Creatine Monohydrate

Warning: DON'T NEVER EVER LISTEN TO RUBBISH AND BULLSHIT IDEA OF CUTTING THE CALORIES. If you are ingesting close to the same amount of calories that you are burning, your body gets nervous and tends to store as many of those calories as possible as fat. We’re talking percentages here. If your body normally stores 10 percent of your food as fat on a normal diet and the rest is available for energy, your body may store 90% of your food as fat leaving virtually none as energy. The more you reduce the calories in the diet, the greater percentage of those calories will be allocated into body fat because your body begins revert to its survival instincts. The body will slow down its metabolism in order to conserve energy. You will fight a loosing battle if you set out to restrict your calories. You won’t have the energy and you will feel drained as your body stores what you eat instead of burning that food for energy.

All the BEST :)
