New to board and need some advice

Ok so here is the deal... I am a 29yr old male. I am 6'8 tall, and weigh 280lbs...I recently went to the heart doctor and he told me my tri's are sky rocketed....so i am on the atkins diet....i was 290 2weeks ago and the diet is working for me. He wants me down to 260, which i am sure i can do but in the meantime i have been hitting the gym for about 4 months now and although i feel stronger and i see a little improvement in my toning of my arm muscles and chest, it just seems to be lacking something. My body fat count well lets just say the doctor says i am overweight. My goals are simple....cut my weight to his recommended weight but also get bigger, and stronger. A friend of mine that use's winny and Dbol stacked says that i should go with the Winny V tabs, now i did some research on this and found that they are the safer version of Winny and this is probably good considering my Tri's and Heart will probably be affected as well by taking them. Guys look, i am a dediacated guy and will do what i must to gaiin, but would like something to make me start seeing results fast....What excersis's do u recommend i do....I would like to work in my arms, chest , back and stomach, my legs are already in shape from lots of bike riding all my life....but i do have a major gut ...so can someone help me out there....Thanks in advance for any help.
 
Most people here are going to tell you to work hard and get to your genetic potential before "supplementing".

Now, with all that said, I'd recommend two things:

1. Look at the sticky 'Training Methods' at the top of the training board.

2. Go to the Diet board and find something a little better than the Atkins... though it is more than likely a better approach than what you previously were eating.


Stick around here, read, listen, learn, and STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THE DRUGS.

I would not neglect legs. Squats will do alot for your other muscles as well as your legs.

I had a very hard time gaining muscle on a true atkins diet. I did get stronger, but very little if any gain in size. You may want to figure out how many calories you are eating a day. Another problem I had on Atkins was I *felt* like I was eating a lot, but when I wrote everything down I discovered my calorie intake was way too low. Your doc may have told you how much to eat and if my tricg. were high I would have to listen to the doc. Like I said, you have to listen to the doc, but you may also want to consider taking in a few extra carbs on workout days. Or, you can cycle one or two high carb days ever 7 days or so and see how that effects your blood work. I am not an expert on AS, but I would not mess with it until you find a diet that you can put some muscle with clean. Hate to waste that money and possible side effects and still not grow due to diet.
 
to the guy that said stay away from drugs...are u pure ? Did you ever use drugs to enhance ?? As i said I am looking for away out of this funk. My bellyhangs and i am a big guy in general now i want the rest of my body to devolpe.....i want to see some gains...I will look for a better diet as u recommended...You guys actually got me afraidn here....just want u to know....i just want to get more in shape and have bigger arms and chest and get rid of this flab that hangs down....thanks for scaring me shitless....in a good way.
 
Rob29: Never used roids in my life, never plan on it.

I do not know a single person who, with the proper diet and training, cannot make drastic changes to their physique and strength. I also doubt that anybody here will disagree with me.

Train hard, eat well, and be consistent. YEARS down the line, when you've come close to your natural ceiling (whcih most people never do), then you'd be ok to try steriods, in my opinion.
 
Stay far away from drugs.

Find a good training program that is best suited for your needs/time schedule in the "Training" on top

With structured training you will lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. I also agree that you should get off Atkins and start eating regularly, with a lot of small meals a day

There is no need or even use for steroids with your goals, belive that. Go ahead with the atkins or maybe a ckd diet until your "gut" goes away and you are as lean as you want to be, belive me with the right dedication and attitude you will be there in a few months. Steroids do nothing for losing bodyfat, nothing relative to the side effects and the risks. They are a tissue sparring and building supplement...not fat burning, so I will tell you right now there is no "cutting" cycle and you will be very dissapointed if you use them for this reason. If you are serious then stay around and read the stickies, ask questions if you are confused and you will be a new person withinn a year.
 
What is a CKD diet ?? Look i am willing to do what i have to. I have had serious health issues all my life and I just want to better myself considering this new thing with my Tri's now are causing me to have problems. I have heard alot so far...I just want to do what is not going to make me starve all day, and also lose weight, as i said i am 280, my goal is 260 at 6'8 but lose the gut and gain strenght and mass.....If someone is in the Brick NJ area and has time to go over things with me i am game....I want what is right for me and not going to kill me. My uncle was a body builder and did his share of Winny Tabs, and he did get huge, my brother did Winny injections and got the juice pimples all over his back and arms, i don't want that....What is T3 ?
 
Definitely don't "starve all day." You should be eating 6-7 small meals and probably cycling carbs. Check out the diet board for CKD advice. If you feel like you MUST stay on atkins, just remember that not eating carbs does NOT mean you can eat anything else you want, like bacon and shit for breakfast. The other foods need to be healthy too (lots of protein and good fats, like olive oil, etc).
 
Can u give me examples of good fat ? I looked at the CKD , i don't really understand it....some help please... Do u know what T3 is or cytomel ?
 
I really am not a good source for nutrition information. BodyByFinaplex seems to know a ton, and spatts and other experienced powerlifters are also knowledgable.

Rob, all non-hydrogrenated fats are good, however I believe they were refering to monounsatured (peanuts, olive oil, macadamia nutts, etc) and omega 3's (fish oil, flaxseeds, walnutts). Its rather silly that people think avoiding saturated fat will somehow help them. Actually, it would be downright amusing, except for the fact that so many actually do believe this. Anyway, make sure you get enough monounsatured, omega 3's and saturated fat every day or you will greatly limit your gains in muscle mass. As far as fats, avoid anything with hydrogented or partially hydrogenated describing some kind of oil in the ingrediants. These things will make your triglyceride problem worse, slow down your fat loss, and may impede your muscle gains. As slong as you are getting enough omega 3's and limiting your intake of high GI carbs, don't worry about eating saturated fat... it won't have a negative effect on you.
 
IMHO, you need to get the idea of a certain weight out of your head. The thing that you need to be concerned with is body fat percentage and not weight.

I agree with cheesecake, your weight doesn't mean a thing. Body composition means more. But, even though your legs are in shape, work them anyway. They are the biggest baddest fat burners you have. Think about it. They are the biggest muscle, the bigger they are, the more calories they burn.

go and do it then, just pay the consequences later.
 
Ok what foods are good to eat that can help me with omega 3 and also Body what do u mean when u say GI carbs...
