****ALL RESIDENTS ON THE EAST BANK OF ORLEANS AND JEFFERSON REMAINING IN THE METRO AREA ARE BEING TOLD TO EVACUATE AS EFFORTS TO SANDBAG THE LEVEE BREAK HAVE ENDED. THE PUMPS IN THAT AREA ARE EXPECTED TO FAIL SOON AND 9 FEET OF WATER IS EXPECTED IN THE ENTIRE EAST BANK. WITHIN THE NEXT 12-15 HOURS****

Jeff Parish President. Residents will probably be allowed back in town in a week, with identification only, but only to get essentials and clothing. You will then be asked to leave and not come back for one month.

Prison riot in progress with women and children as hostages

http://abcnews.go.com/US/HurricaneKatrina/story?id=1081633&page=1

Aug. 30, 2005 — Inmates at a prison in hurricane-ravaged New Orleans have rioted, attempted to escape and are now holding hostages, a prison commissioner told ABC News affiliate WBRZ in Baton Rouge, La.

Orleans Parish Prison Commissioner Oliver Thomas reported the incident to WBRZ.

A deputy at Orleans Parish Prison, his wife and their four children have been taken hostage by rioting prisoners after riding out Hurricane Katrina inside the jail building, according to WBRZ.

Officials are expected to hold a press conference regarding the riots at 9 p.m. ET.

A woman interviewed by WBRZ said her son, a deputy at the prison whose family is among the hostages, told her that many of the prisoners have fashioned homemade weapons. Her son had brought his family there hoping they would be safe during the storm.

I saw a photo on CNN of these three ghetto black guys looting cases full of beer. BEER for god's sake.

Throw them in the fire as well.

I have sympathy for prisoners; many times they fall into some bad luck.

Prisoners rioting should be dealt with harshly.

You ever read "Attica"? Like that.

How things can change in a day. Monday it was looking like New Orleans dodged the bullet. Today everything down there went to hell.

Orleans parish Prision is also known as OPP. This is generally what happens to soft or weak people when they get locked up in there. They become someone elses's bitch...
Let's forget about Angola , the city jail is that hard.

You think any of them give a rats ass about looting? I guess shooting them is a good option if you can't stop them

I read that helicopters were rescuing people from rooftops and trees today but before they actually threw them a line to save them they threw them beads and made them show them their tits! way to care on the tradition during all scenarios NO!!
