Figured out how to post an avatar.... Doesn't look so good shrunk down though... ick! Don't know how long that'll be up there but thats really me... stretchmarks and all...
Hey, the part about bf figures being different for men and women -- vive l'difference! Your skeleton is different, your center of gravity is lower, your musculature has to take that into account -- and leg muscles are naturally bigger than arm muscles anyway... nothing in a working body exists in isolation.

Your right about body fat stats and the differences between men and women... I wasn't real clear on my question though...
What I am asking is, for the Tanita scale that uses BIA why do you ned to put in male or female. Adipose tissue and muscle tissue compositionwise is exactly the same in men and women and Tanita uses BIA, it measures the amount of water in your body as an electrical current passes through you from foot to foot. It has to do with the conductivity of your cells.
It shouldn't need a different formula for a man or a woman in that case should it?
As a 5'7, 136lb woman I supposedly have 31% body fat. As a man I supposedly have 17%. I have some AM calipers (just measures one site, Iliac crest) and it says 18.5%.
