Wow, just read all the responses. I'd say most on them are pretty accurate, including the criticisms.
It's true that I come on a little aggresive, and yes, that was esspecially necessary in the beginning. That's something that, in a way, was inspired by Arnold. He knew; If you want to be noticed, make your presense known in a big way. Just make sure you can deliver the goods.
And in my case, since I knew I was bucking conventional thought on a lot of subjects, it was necessary to come on strong. No one will listen to a half hearted attempt at changing popular opinion. Of course, there's a price to pay for that and I've accepted that, although it wasn't always easy.
It keeps coming back to my favorite Mark Twain quote:
"If you make people think you're making them think, they'll love you. But if you really make them think, they'll hate you."
Of course, that's a generalization. lots of guys (and girls) here love an intellectual challange. Nevertheless, if you have a message that forces people to re-think comfortable positions, there will be those who'll want to shoot you down.
At any rate, as imperitive as maintaining a forceful internet persona has been, from here on in, I'm going to make an effort to avoid antagonism. I realize I can afford to choose my words more carefully. And now that EF feels like "home" I know it isn't necessary to bash down the door every time I make an entrance.
I also hope that Fonz's statement is sincere and he's not just a backing down due to the negitve response he got from his attempts at trying to muster some antagonism toward me. There are lots of bros, including Fonz, who have something to offer and everyone with good info should be heard. I'd be glad to explain to Fonz some of the original concepts I've developed if he isn't familiar with them.
I truly believe this can be a better board if we everyone consolidates the collective knowledge instead of just trying to pick apart the others guys point of view.
I think in the long run more people will benefit. But something tells me there will still be times when emotions run high. At least I hope so. It would be very dull if everybody always agreed on everything.
Maybe we can instill a "three strikes you're out" clause to anyone who begins a blatant flame post. The FIRST antagonist of any thread is the perpetrator and will get a warning. If it happens 3 times, he's gone. That'd be great.
