I am just curious, what your background is. You are obviously one of the most respected people here and I just wonder where your expertise lies : BB'ing competition experience, herbalist, chemist, lots of internet reading, etc? This is not meant to be disrespectful but I just wondered. Sometimes you seem to be a TCM herbalist speaking of yin and yang, othertimes you almost seem to be into evidenced base science, othertimes personal experience etc...I know all of these come into play in general discussion (which this is), but just wondered why your strong involvement as an expert?

so what would you say if he has no college degree or the credentials that you are looking for? will you not agree with anything he has to say? a person's arguement should be taken at face value. I don't care how many degrees you have, if you are wrong you are wrong and if you are right you are right. the problem with these boards is that the questions are brief and often phrased wrong. add to that the most of the answers people give are brief and incomplete (and therein lies the problem when flaming starts because everyone is giving half thoughts). Now I have no idea what Nelson's credentials are but I can tell you that most people don't like what he has to say because the way he says it. kind of like arthur jones back in the day.

I'm apprehensive about answering questions like this because it almost always turns into a flame. I cant win. No matter what I say, there will be those who aren't impressed, or think I'm lying, or will accuse me of bragging. Look at Ashamed snot nosed remarks already. He's just chomping at the bit waiting to start a fight and then blame me for it. It won't be the first time.

Basically, I'm a little bit of all those things you mentioned. I'd also say that I've spent many years questioning the status quo, and in doing so, made some observations that a lot of the college boys missed. I'm also one of the youngest guys who dates back to the silver age of BB, so I'm a strange hybrid of the old and the new -- going with what works best in either case. And I'm a writer, so I try to put the information together in an assessable, entertaining manner. A lot of people appreciate that. A lot of people resent it. Many people have benefited whereas others view my theories as "food for thought." (which have become more accepted over the years due primarily to the fact that they are effective). And there are a handful who will reject what I say simply because it goes against their thinking. They won't try it or even consider it. And that's their right. And then there are a few who just want to hate me for thinking differently. That's their right too, but it isn't their right to openly display hostility, which is often the case and what has become a big problem on this board.

I'm no guru. I don't go around telling people how smart I am. I'm not a scientist. I'm no Mr. Olympia contender. I'm just a guy who's been in this field for awhile and has studied varying aspects of it and has learned a few things along the way and I enjoy sharing them. That's it.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that I usually disgagree with Nelson, he is right about this. It doesn't matter how he answers, he is going to get flamed.
