I am sure other people have sent a check or money order, with the weekend and yesterday being a holiday, it just hasn't gotten here yet.
We are up to $380 so far. I am going to take him around the neighborhood tomorrow night and hopefully get another $100.
They sent the day by day plan home yesterday with what all is going to happen on the trip. Here is a brief run down :
Monday, arrive and check into hotel, dump bags and meet the D.C. guide. Depart for tour that includes Library of Congress, Peterson House, Capital (public line), Supreme Court, White House Photo Stop, and a few other sites if time permits. Have a late supper at a Welcome To DC party in HardRock Cafe and return to the hotel about 10PM
Tuesday 630AM (yeah... 630), have breakfast, meet tour guide at Columbus Fountain in front of Union Station for touring there - Bureau of Printing and Engraving, then go for The White House Tour, Embassy Row, National Zoo, Washington National Catheral, Holocaust Museum (Daniels Story), Iwo Jima Memorial, board boat have dinnercruise, ESPN Zone with dinner and card game. (I think this is something like video games... have to purchase a $20 play card, not sure though) Return to hotel at 11PM
Wednesday - breakfast 7AM (yeah.. they are going to kill 'em huh?) Meet tour guide at ARlington National Cemetary with tramobile, see the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier and kennedy's grave sites, tour rest of cemetary and hear speeches and historical lectures. Visit Smithsonian Museum. 830PM dinner at Armands Pizza Buffet, 1100PM return to motel.
Thursday, go to the different museums. Spy Museum (thanks to Freeballin DC for suggesting this one), complete any activity that the student(s) would like to see again and spend more time on such as a longer trip to the national zoo. etc...
Friday - Sponsor appreciation day.. 8AM to 11AM Historical tours and lectures, purchase postcards, noon lunch, 2-4PM, writing and mailing for each child's sponsors. (I am going to take all the names of each child out to the office and have them made into mailing labels. 32 children (3 grades 4th, 5th, 6th,) @ 50 sponsors each is a LOT of writing to do at once. So they can just write the personal note message and put their labels on.) Afterwards, free to visit the arcade, putt putt golf or inside heated pool at the hotel.
Saturday, breakfast 10AM (YAY! They get to sleep in once) and then get ready for departing back home.
***sorry about all the typos, I got to get to the office very shortly***
