Ok, keep in mind I'm a lawyer... a NEW lawyer at that... I'm getting a little aggrevated at the legal profession now.. .but I can't sit back and keep waiting for a job to spring into my lap... here is a posting I found...

$50,000 PLUS BENEFITS. Established vocational school seeks sales representative for inside sales. All prospects come directly to you with a sincere interest. Must have excellent people skills and want to help people succeed. Advancement potential. No weekends, late nights or telephone solicitation. Salary and commission paid biweekly. Immediate gratification. Dream job for right person. High percentage of lay down business. Full- or part-time

Now, it doesn't seem to be a "sales" job where you go out and cold call people... plus, it looks like it has a decent salary. No telephone solicitation.

Give me some advice... I didn't want everyone seeing this, so I put it over here..

Thanks guys.

Sounds like bullshit to me. Why would they pay you biweekly?

You could give them a call. You don't have anything to lose. I just wouldn't get my hopes up to much.

Alot of jobs I've worked at have been biweekly. Don't know why. The two law firms I've worked at were both biweekly pay... maybe it's a midwest thing?

Investigate it...

Call them inquire keep it as an option...Don't bet the farm on this job use it as a prospect and keep in prospecting...Where did you graduate Law School from any way????

I have been in sales for 10 years and this job does sound like a sales job. It looks more along the lines of fielding calls that are inquiring about the products you are offering. Once they call in you still have to sell them on buying. You would be working in a call center.

Why are you having trouble getting a a job in your field. What is your field of practice.

By the way I also used to be a headhunter.

Hmm... I thought I said my field was an attorney. Headhunters are worthless... they only want to place attorneys with 3 or more years experience... which doesn't do me a whole hell of a lotta good. :(

I hope I did not offend you, but alot of headhunters will place attroneys with less than three years experince. Most of the attorney's that I handled did interships and established contacts and job security that way. I was not trying to come off like a know it all and I won't butt in again.

No offense taken. THe reason I said that is because three recruitment firms laughed in my face and told me to get 2-3 years experience and then come back and they would place me. The fact is, I would have a job now if I had 2-3 years experience... several employers have told me such... That is what aggrevates me... if I had 2-3 years, I wouldn't need them anyway! :)

Just take your time bro and do lots of investigating. Being a lawyer, you have a brite future. I do know that the state department has got several openings for lawyers. That may be an option that would interest you.

I agree. Take some more time and find something in your chosen profession. You will eventually. Check out agencies that contract out lawyers. My sister did that a couple years ago and has since gone on to start a practice with a partner.

just do like I did. You wont regret it......

I used to teach drafting at a vocation school. I know the job that you are looking at. You are selling the school to perspective students. They call or come by, or are picked up at career fairs put on at high schools. It's not a bad job if you have good people skills and can speak on a level that appeals to (usually) a kid that has barely made it through high school and now has no hope of getting into a real college. Guys I know that were doing it got laid a lot by really young girls (BONUS!!!!!). I don't think any of them were making 50K though. It's one of those "you can make as much as 50K" deals.

Another option you may want to look into (especially if you studied any contract law) is large engineering firms. The company I work for has a whole floor of Lawyers and paralegals that do contract negotiations on construction projects.

Kewl to see another lawyer around:)

I have just finished my first year at law school here in Canada.

That job posting sounds sketchy my friend....I would suggest to keep looking.

My 2 cents
