My thoughts

Also, aren't we supposed to be over there because we're trying to stick up for those that were being tortured by Sadam's regime? Maybe that's another reason we're not doing this, that's basically like admitting they lied, which of course they can't do. They'd rather lose more American lives than admit a mistake.

Being selected for the draft during the vietnam war i can see a lot of similarities(With the war in Iraq)One thing about then & now that we havn't learned is that when you go to war against an enemy, you have to be as dirty & nasty as the enemy is.
We cannot fight a war & worry about popular opinion, because the enemy will take advantage.
When are we going to stop messing with a small group of insurgents and wipe them out like we should?
The beheading of Nick Berg was a tragedy--------all we did was imbarrass our prisoners, tell me which is worst.
This country & our politicians are so hung up on image & what the polls say;and it is risking our soldiers lives!
You can't fight a war & be the good guy and that is what we are trying to do....peroid!

One thing wrong with your essay. The very last word, mm exclamation point, not period. Other than I couldn't agree more.

You are correct!

this isnt en response to whiping out a group of people, or the beheading...because both are increadibly stupid and disgusting wrong things to do...

but in response to your "all we did was embarras some prisoners" comment is i think the reason its such a big deal is because it goes beyond that...some say the cia instructed the troops in the jails to do that as a means of interrogation (cause its the same "technique" they used in south america). and if so thats very fucked up of us, and the world probably thinks we should be tried for warcrimes bt because its the united states we CANT...so its all touchy and wtf is gunna happen.

We can do whatever we want. Think Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Popular opinion was pretty much forgotten when the WWII ended due to the Japanese suddenly realizing that we were bigger, meaner, nastier, and not willing to sacrifice anymore of our own. So we sacrificed alot of theirs.

I'm pretty sure the message got across. (History would support that one)

yeah but back then we were the only one with the bomb, if somebody.. if anybody tried to do that today... :worried:

Not necessarily advocating the use of a nuclear bomb (well, not a HUGE one at least), but rather a show of force and commitment that conveys our intentions. And by intentions my definition would be to win the fight with minimal losses on our side. This would be done with an overwhelming troop numbers, day and nite raids, continuous shelling, and complete occupation with no liberties for civilians.

That and the whole bathing of prisoners/to be executed in pig's blood. (best to deter the living with sheer force and the threat of no virgins in paradise when they die)

Think back to Desert Storm when General H. Norman Schwarzkopf wanted to keep on rolling thru the midde east but was told to stop. He understood how to keep our people alive - and kill the enemy.
