my 3 yo has a blanket but she knows I would not drive that far for it.

Both of my boys have blankies..My daughter had a pacie untill i took it from her. Now she has random things that she needs to sleep with.More so her carebear now more than anything...heavy_duty said:
Luckilly my boys have never lost their blankies any where other than in their rooms. I try not to let them bring em when we go out and such that way they wont get lost,ruined, or dirty faster...Funny how you can buy the same blanket yet they know which one is "theirs"

None of mine ever really had things like that. They would occasionally latch onto this doll or that stuffed animal or like a particular character pillow, but they never really had ONE "comfort object."
My oldest sucked her pacifier till I took it at 2. I think it was a mistake on my part to take it from her that young as she would then constantly put all sorts of things into her mouth. I should have just let her suck on it at night or naptime when she needed to soothe herself. My younger three all sucked different fingers. By the age of two though I broke them of sucking them fingers during the day or out in public. It just became a habit. Once they were broken of the habit of sucking fingers in public and during the day, I broke them of sucking at night by placing a sock on their hand so they couldn't get their fingers into their mouths. I know they would still suck for a little ways after that at night, but eventually gave that up too.
I only broke them of the sucking stuff because the dentist I went to and all that I had read said that it would impede proper development of their teeth. Other than that, I let them be kids.
Now my es bitchster-in-law had a kid that would suck his thumb and hold his blankey to his face till nearly TEN.
I AM NOT KIDDING.
