I am required to work over time (which is illegal) and now they want me to go to a post work get together which is "mandatory." It just happens to be on leg day. Have any of you ever told you boss straight up that it is illegal to make an employee work OT and gotten away with it.
are you high? I have never been fired or laid off. I quit my last job cause I moved 60 miles away. As a matter of fact, you are the one that got canned last time!
MP5,
Are you an hourly employee? If so, you should not be required to work any overtime unless there is some sort of public emergency that would require you to stay at your post, e.g. a hospital worker.
Make clear to your supervisors that you have obligations outside of the office that require that you leave at a pre-determined time each day.
As for your "mandatory" get together, bite the bullet and go. To do this once a month or so in order to improve the atmosphere at the office is a small price to pay. If still you don't want to go, simply don't go and let your supervisor know that you have other plans and will not be attending.
As for leaving my posts up, I have no idea what you're talking about.
I know what you mean about workin big hours and still finding time to train. Economic downtime though, i'd take all the o.t. i could get. It's not available all the time.
