I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with the health problems I've gone through over the past year. My narrative of this is longwinded to say the least... but I'll eventually get into what's happening to me now.
Last November, I was diagnosed with Renal(Kidney)failure... it caused several problems for me:
1.) Massive edema in my feet, ankles, legs, groin, and waist.
2.)Despite having a clean diet, my blood was hyper-lipid(cholesterol+)
3.)Caused by blood to be hyper-coagulant(clots+)... essentially, it was as if I had vegetable soup running through my veins.
In February I had a Kidney biopsy, I bled internally, and immediately developed a pulmonary embolism(large blood clot)in my left lung. I was hospitalized for several weeks as a result. Just prior to my discharge from hospital, my Kidney surgeon hit me with, what would become, a powerful regimen of several months of drugs. One of the drugs was Coumadin(Warfarin)... it is a anti-coagulant meant to resolve the PE in my left lung and ensure I had no further clotting problems. Here's what's really fucked up... Warfarin is rat-poison. Not only is it used to kill animals... Palistinian suicide bombers have now adopted Warfarin's anti-coagulant properties for their purposes: They pack Warfarin, with drywall screws, amongst the explosive... causing the bomb's victims no chance of survival what-so-ever. Their bodies having absolutely no ability to clot the wounds caused by the bomb. Knowing how destructive to life this substance is... its amazing it has a medicinal purpose.
Anyways... 8mgs of Coumadin ED for over 5 months, no probs. Blood clotting levels are measured by what's called an INR. The higher your INR... the thinner your blood is... the longer it takes to clot. A normal INR is 1. My surgeon wanted me at a theraputic level of 2.5... 8mgs/ED kept me right there. The aforementioned regimen of drugs has turned my Kidney function almost completely around. My most recent appointment with the Kidney surgeon was in June... she said everything was at the healhiest/fittest end of normal limits. I haven't had any edema since March and have been hard as nails since. She said she wanted me to continue taking all my prescribed medication until the end of the summer though... to ensure my Kidney function resolves for good.
I went camping last weekend and noticed I was bleeding quite badly from any abrasion I got. I thought it'd be a good idea to bin my Coumadin till I had my INR checked on Monday. Its a good thing I did that. I did a 4mg tab of Coumadin on Sunday morning... Monday night, my INR was over 7! As a result... I've got large muscle tears in both my triceps and have hemorrhaged badly. I'm completely purple from my arm-pits all the way to my elbows. Its considerably painful and I have no idea how long it will be until I can hit the iron again. I work in a hospital... and have been under the care of a brilliant ER physician for the past two nights. He reversed my anti-coagulant state by giving me an injection of Vitimin K... and prescribed 1 week of low-dose Prednisone to assist with the pain/inflamation of the muscle tears. I'm one shit-kicked human being guys.
On a brighter note... I'm going out with a smoking-hot 26 year old nurse from the ER tonight! She's great... a smart, very sexy, brunette. I'm really looking forward to a night out with her.
Peace,
Scott.
