Yes, Hannibal...having this time to be with him really helped a lot.
We got a call before dawn that my dad was doing worse. We got there and his bp had been declining through the night. I brought an Eva Cassidy CD along with me and played it for him. My mother stepped out for a bit and during the song "Songbird" my father passed away peacefully in my arms. He's finally at peace.
My dad did not want any services, so the hospital is keeping him in his bed until the rest of the family gets a chance to say good bye. Minutes before he passed, I made calls to everyone and they all talked to him as I held the phone up to his ear. I think it was best that this is the way things went. Thanks for your wishes everyone.
