My dog was hit by a car today

My wife called a few hours ago, crying her heart out. The dog was actually ran over this morning and the animal shelter had been trying all day to get in touch with us. My kids, were home and though the dog escape and just needed to be picked up from the shelter. Damm, it was fucking hard to tell, two young boys that their dog was dead, and even harder to leave for work while everyone in the family crying. It feels like we lost a part of our family.

i dont know what else to say other than im sorry for your loss :( a dog is a member of the family you want....i hope he didnt suffer, and maybe after youve finished grieving you can think about getting another

I know how you feel...losing a pet is really difficult. I had many pets pass away on me through the years. My condolences.

I'm sorry about your dog.:(

I know if something happened to any of mine I would fell awful, because they are part of my family too.

I would rather loose a family member than a dog.
I am soo sorry for you man... this shit depresses me.

I am sorry.

My kids are asking if they can have another dog, I just don't know if I want to go though this again in the future. My kids are learning how to deal with death, something I learned early on, as a kid. My dad used to just kill my dogs for fucking, no good reason. I would find most of my dogs shot in the head, down this old gravel road. My dad would usually denied it, but we were the only ones living close by and the bullit shells were from his riffle. My grandpa would just get me another one.

I would get them another one. It might be hard on you, but everytime they see another dog they will think about the one that died. Plus it might help them work through their grief. As hard as it is on you, it's going to be harder on them not to have a pet. You remember how much your pets ment to you especially at a young age. They are always there for them to play with and talk to when nobody else is around. Hell mine are still that important to me as was your's to you. Take your kids out and pick one out together. It will do you all some good.
