I was hoping to get to the equivalent of the DMV today and get closer to having my scooter license (that sounds way cool) - but last night my rental scooter (also way cool) started dying while going up hills or over 20kmph.
I traded it in this morning for another one - then got phone calls from work saying that I had to get in fast because one of the servers was down.
Sure enough it was very much down - once of the SCSI drives was down so hard that... well, it is totally toast.
Fortunately we weren't backing up that server at all - I was really smart to have trusted our backup setup and not taken the time to go through it all to make sure.
But it isn't too bad since that server did very little and wasn't storing important stuff - so we dodged a bullet.
Now I have to rebuild that which will take all day and then get the software that needs on it - which happens to be the scanning software for a Xerox printer that sucks huge hairy ass - very half-ass product.
When I popped out to grab some lunch, I ran into a guy that was pissed off that I hadn't gotten back in touch with him about a job reference (I wanted to get a job doing analysis at a hedge fund and he was going to refer me) - I apologized for screwing that up and he was nice about it. Explained I had been busy starting my own thing.
I have like 8 phone calls I need to make and I'm going to be standing in a makeshift server closet crammed next to a copier until what may possibly be late this evening.
This is very much teh suk. I hate IT.
