My damn filter clogged when converting my fina

This is just general info...

When new at converting... use a coffee filter... when your a little more experianced, Then you can try it without... But make damn sure that all the binders have completely fallen out of suspension. This is one of the reasons, when electing not to use the coffee filter,that the "new to converting people" have problems.. Not letting it sit long enough.. The other is trying to get every last drop out of the vial and sucking up some sludge off the bottom...


Just because your an old pro at it... Doesn't mean evry new guy will have the same outcome.. they won't. It's irresponsible for you to think so and tell new guys not to use the coffee filter...

The BA is in there to fight off any bacteria.. So unless you make this in an outhouse, chances of you really contaminating the gear is very slim.

Worried about shit falling into the funnel while filtering... Saran Wrap... enough said.

basskiller I agree with everything you said. Except... The irresponsible part. The first time I made fina I did it without a coffee filter no problem. I'm no genius so I guess I expect other new people to have as much common sense. I doubt I will ever have the knowledge you do so please correct me if I'm wrong. while BA kills bacteria it does nothing for spores right? By the way the saran wrap is a great idea.

No BA, won't kill everything, But you can even add to the sterility factor by using a .02 micron filter... It clogs easily though.


Although you made out like a champ... Believe me... Not all the rookies make out so well... For one, most are impatient and don't let the binders completely fall out of suspension before using the .45 filter.. Hense all the "screwed up my Fina or help me the filter is clogged" posts

I probably go overboard. I use the .2 micron and then I divide it all into 10ml vials and autoclave. That way i'm not poking into the same bottle 40 times.

clogging filters

i have made about 3 0r 4 batches of fina, and everytime i have the filter clog about halfway through..so i tried heating it a little more this last time..still clogged , in fact -it was so hard to push through, it blew off the filter, and all over my damn eyeball no shit...i wasted about 4 ccs in my eyes, it burned like hell, BA ya know, but now i use frickin safety glasses....no shit bros.... i still have no idea how to keep it from clogging- last time i made use of the spare i ordered also, still clogged, i have searched and tried using all suggestions, but apparently the binders are the culprit, next time i make i am going to get about 3 or 4 filters and use them per 50cc bottle....

my experiences fo ya......watch yo eyes...seriously, maybe no ne else has postd they did this but it has to have happened to others as well....or maybe i am just dumb for telling my story....

I used an extra filter also, but I made sure that I kept more then the recomended 2-3cc of oil in a pin, more like 5-6cc.
That way when a filter gets clogged, you can suck the sludge back out of the filter and squirt some clean oil in to help make sure you get all the tren through.

I made my fina without the coffee filter and it came out fine, no problems at all. I dont think its necessary. Take my advise for what its worth, I only converted 1 fina kit.
