im sure nobody is gonna know how to fix this, but im gonna post anyway

my computer just freezes randomly. sometimes its on for a good 3-4 days wihtout problems, then sometimes it crashes like 10 min after booting up. it basically just freezes and whaetver sound was playing at the time just keeps repeating. i have to hit the restart button to get it working and when i restart none of my settings are saved. my computer has the following stuff:

athlon 1600+ chip
ECS K7S5A motherboard
256mb pc133 sdram
sb live value
geforce 2 gts
some other stuff

what the fuck is wrong. this just started happening a few weeks ago. i dont think its overheating since its random and my temps dont look too bad.

How much ice accumulates on the screen when it freezes?

none, ive been salting the computer regularly (could this be the problem?)

WizKid25:

i think its like 60 degrees celsius
the only other devices are my monitor, dsl modem, speakers, mouse and keyboard. inside there is also a dialup modem

Stand up and scream at the computer, "You better work mother fucker or I'm going to break you into a million pieces." It works for me. I swear these computers are a living entity.

everytime it freezes i punch the wall really hard. my computer doesnt even flinch

All i can think of then is a faulty PSU...

Have you tried reinstalling windows?

First try giving yourself a windows update and maybe updating vid card drivers.

Try moving the speakers further from the PC.

discussion, i'll help you only because your pics tell me that you've done your share of compound deadlifts.

What operating system are you running? What programs are running? Do you notice any pattern in freezing? You say music is playing.. very often winamp can conflict with other multimedia programs such as Media Player. There are numerious reasons why this happens very hard to diagnose over internet.

is this a joke or are your serious?

i havent reinstalled windows but i did the windows update thing and i also updated my video and sound drivers

Remove unwanted programs running at startup. mine was freezing untill I did that.

Start up menu--- add/remove programs make sure you know which ones to remove. Call your manufacturer, they will tell you.

The speaker thing didn't work eh?

Ok, try putting mouse on the *other* side of the keyboard.

Hrm, ok then.
Have you tried cleaning the keyboard?

Those crumbs cause havoc with the OS.

herbal recipe

Hmm, that sounds right.

Maybe try pulling out your sound card and replace it with a pop-tart. I suggest S'mores flavor.
