on the ride down to Va Beach for the King of the Ring..... we get a text message.... "you've been offered a shot at the 145lbs Va State MMA Title due to an opponent droping out because to the storm"..... i never fought MMA and really wouldn't like to..... but why not.......
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vGUa5hHW9M
lost by armbar to to not knowing what to do on the ground.....

i'm the black dude....

AWESOME work, dude!!! Props to you for taking the fight on short notice, and not having any MMA experience. That's what a true fighter is all about.

You dominated that guy, even without any BJJ skills. Tight standup, Fucking A-1 throws! I love to see that kind of stuff.

I couldn't really tell how he got the armbar, but you were doing an excellent job of trying to break what he had. He must have been holding on for dear life, LOL. I think anyone can safely assume that his win was a lucky win.

If you wanted to enter the MMA circuit, all you'd need to work on is your grappling---the rest looks solid from that video.

Once again, excellent work!!!

Great job!!! For never having fought MMA style you did awesome. And I totally agree with Mike. You would have won that easily with more ground work experience. Best of luck in the future with everything you do.

I couldn't really tell how he got the armbar
going for a punch.... when i created distance.... he switched form the triange to the armbar.....

i don't PLAN on fighting MMA anymore.... but i know the promoter.... and i Know he's gonna ask me to fight MMA again..... i'm looking for a jiu jitsu coach now... u know.... just in case....

Sun. You need a better corner. You should have struck and thrown, but never gone to the ground. Even if the throw takes you to the ground, get up to your feet and back off. If he pulls guard, don't strike. Just back out and get to your feet. When you can own someone in standup there is no need to go to the ground. You're a San Shou guy. Make him fight San Shou. Don't try to fight submission against a submission guy. Make the submission guy fight San Shou. If you fight again and have picked up some BJJ concentrate on defense of submission and identifying what is going on so you can know where not to go and how to escape guard, mount, and side mount.

i didn't WANT to go on the ground..... but when we clinched and he found his way onto my hip..... i HAD to throw him..... on the ground i tried to wait for the ref to stand us back up but he kept creeping around my back and i had to keep working.... then after a while i said "fuck it" and just went for the GnP as best I could......

OK. I see what he did. When you threw him he had underhooks so even when you were on top he would scoot you forward and try to take your back. If you are going to toss submission guys you may want to train to take the underhook on the ground or learn how to work a whizzer grip so you can get to your feet easily. You controlled his head with the throw, but didn't underhook his arm on the ground. If you underhook his arm after a head throw he wont be able to scoot you forward so easily like that.

I saw a striker killing a BJJ brown belt on the feet once. The striker made a similar mistake. He knocked the BJJ guy down hard and went to follow up with ground and pound from the side without underhooking the BJJ guys arm. The BJJ guy got his wits, scooted the striker forward, and quickly took his back and choked him out.

Good job though. Your striking is smoothe and beautiful to watch.

Hey I currently lost my trainer and I have a few MMA fights under my belt but does anyone train in Ohio and know of anyone who is looking for females to train? Just wondering, I love the sport and love to fight but cant find anyone who would train women.

Do a google search for mma ohio. Sorry for your problems finding a good trainer. Unfortunately most places probably wont be upfront on the web sites about their prejudice against women fighters.

a friend of mine owns Steele Valley Mixed Maertial arts.... or something like that.... also look up Scott Sheehy....

Yeah I am near the Dayton area, I have looked everywhere, I believe Scott Sheely is in Lancaster, isn't he? Which is about 4 hrs away from me. UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :worried: this stinks, I really enjoy this sport, I still do my shadow boxing and I keep up my cardio and weight lifting.

Sun can I ask why youd ont want to fight mixed again since you did so well
not really my sport of choice..... i'd rather fight san da or san shou..... but not really popular among promoters.... most likely i'll fight again tho.... just not my first choice...

I agree with Jacob, it's dangerous going to the ground if you don't have grappling skills. But I understand your point. You had the throws and it makes sense to take them but you should think "what next" If the slams aren't hard enough to end the fight, you'll have to follow them up with something. You might get caught in a sub in the process...

Nice!
