any domestic losses value quicker the foriegn cars. But if you wants a stang its your choice. I had 2 and will most likely never own another ford product ever. my 3 worst car experiences were all fords!

here's a slightly moded sti vs a turbo porche and then there's a heavily modded sti in general being reviewed. STI = more bang for your buck. Porche = overpriced volkswagon.

Stock for stock, not modified.

I could easily put 5 more pounds of boost into the porsche as well, and/or make it have 600 HP just as easily as make an STI have 400hp. We could play the "modify me" game, but that's stupid.

I could buy a base mustang gt for 24K, put a supercharger on it and have a 500hp car for $30K brand new with a warranty. Which, for the money, is way faster than any car you could buy for even close to the $$$ and costs less than an STI. Oh, then I could upgarde it with a somewhat comparable suspension for another 2K, which is still less than an STI and have it handle almost just as well. And still have a warranty. Put some sticky tires on the rear with a 4.10 gear (another $750 for the both of them) and you could be doing 0-60 in 4.0 seconds flat with a 1/4 mile in the high 11's for $32,750K with a factory warranty. I dont see any other car with that potential. This game is fun.

almost just doesn't cut it. i can also go in snow and rain and have enough room to fit a family comfortably. Plus I won't lose nearly the $$$ if I resell my car. You would need upgrades to to be able to compete with an sti. thats pretty sad. Plus with all the power to the rear wheels your car would sit there and spin the tires while I launched way ahead. Basically what it boils down to is STI stock>mustang GT stock. STI w/bolt ons > mustang w/ bolt ons. You would have to buy all these parts to beat a stock STI. Pretty pathetic IMO. Shit I could spent about $2500 in bolt ons and pretty much beat a supercharged shitstang. A porche will be faster but at $100k I know I will never afford one. If you put the other $65k into and STI it would blow a porche's doors off. The only way most cars on the road beat an STI or EVO is from a roll because the can't do it from a dig.

Here is your supercharged stang against and 08 sti

EXACTLY my point bro. You can't bring up sti vs porsche turbo and say "Oh, I can modify my sti to be faster than a porsche turbo for less money" I can say the same for any car against any car pretty much. It's stupid!

I can modify a '85 cvic CRX hatchback to run 10 seconds @ 130mph for 15-20 grand. doesn't mean it's "better" than another car by any means.

again, the "modify me" game is stupid.

STI and mustang are in different classes.

Head to head regardless of differences, sti > mustang. duh. it's obvious.

base price vs base price of $24,186 vs $33,010 Means that an STI also cost 33% more money.

A manufacturing/engineering team could match the STI for a retail price of $8k more. But, it's a whole different kind of car tailored to a different audience.

2.5l vs 4.6l. Turbos make any displacement engine have more hp per liter. That's the whole point.

What's your point? That 2.5l turbo vs 4.6l NA is somehow "better"? It's just diffrent. And the 4.6l V8 is more fuel efficient than your 2.5l turbo 4-banger. That's a little backwards.

lol, that's a previous model stang. 00-04. Put it up against a 05+ with a blower and it gets raped in the ass.

Besides, that looks and sounds like an 03-04 cobra, not a GT. Probably stock or close to stock. 390hp. weighs about 3800 lbs. Still, you can easily tell that it's top end power is way better than the sti as it gains on it the whole race, and passes it up.

I could post countless video of 05+ mustangs at the track beating sti's, and countless sti's beating supercharged mustangs. There's no "proof" in doing this.

A stock 2008 mustang gt with the addition of a whipple supercharger at 10 lbs of boost, a standard for H.O. systems, puts the car at 500hp for 30K. Put some sticky tires on back with a 4.10 gear, you're sitting at 31K, which would not only smoke the STI off the line, but also give it no chance at ever catching up. It would murder an STI. So, if you want to play the $ for $ game, the mustang would easily beat an sti in an acceleration match. Because 8 grand in upgrades still doesn't even match the retail price of an STI.

To get an STI to 500hp, you have to take the whole engine apart and upgrade every component so it can withstand 20+ lbs of boost. Upgrade the intercooler, new turbocharger, new internals which would cost about 10 grand. Plus the labor would be a huge bill in itself.

Using drag racing videos against a mustang, which is designed for such things, isn't a very stong tactic.

I raced my friends '06 sti from a roll when my '07 stang was stock, and we we're dead even the whole way up to 120ish, with me actually slightly gaining in the top end. Off the line i didn't have a chance, but actual acceleration power minus the traction issue, it was very comparable.

Obviously, around a track an STI would absolutely destroy a mustang.
