What causes this? Iv had one in my right quad on and off all day....
You got MS...
Nah, muscle twitching can be common with heavy lifting / exercise. Is it constant or just once in a while?

magnesium deficit most likely. Mag is a relatively poorly absorbed mineral, so most people don't get enough into their tissues from food. Most people don't notice though, but certain things really exacerbate the deficiency like caffeine consumption, dehydration, and pumping iron.
Take a mag supplement. Any kind except mag stearate which is the cheap shit and has a very low absorption rate. Oxide is good, malate or citrate is better.
yah I drink alot of coffee, drinking some right now actually. Not sure though if I could take magnesium, my parents dont even like me having whey...
14 year olds should not be taking supplements. just my opinion. i also dont understand the coffee drinking trend but its not the worst habit a teen could have. at such an age, i wouldnt even allow whey protein. whole foods for the first few years. again, just an opinion.

Im 15 now, lol. Yeah I should really concentrate on more whole foods, its after school and before bed when my diet suffers most because Im lazy and dont wana cook food![]()
maybe pre-cook these meals 2 times a week and have them ready. at 1 sitting make 6 servings which will be 3 days and at the next make 8 meals for the next 4 days. i totally understand the convienience factor though. sometimes its what we all need to do to get the calories down.

Most likely that's where your body's magnesium stores are going. You're pissing them all out. Beginning within about an hour of consumption, caffeine triggers a big excretion of several minerals, including magnesium.
In this particular instance I have to respectfully disagree with the advise against taking supplements. As long as you are regularly drinking caffeinated coffee, it's unlikely you will ever be able to rebuild the proper levels of mag in your tissues from whole food sources. The sheer volume of food you'd have to eat everyday would be unmanageable.
You could try something like this:
Peter Gillham Liquid Organic Life Minerals Unsweet -- 32 fl oz - Vitacost
Not cheap, but so potent and so well absorbed you don't need much, so it lasts a long time.
I had the twitch again very slightly today, would it sort itself out if I just stopped drinking coffee? Surely not everyone takes megnesium supplements and gets on ok...?
