muscle spasm??

Yesterday afternoon, the left side of my back started to tighten up really bad. Everytime I looked down or bend over, there is this sharp pain that radiates from right below my trap to the middle of my back. It's not sore to the touch though. I did do back yesterday but it's too painful to be sore from that. Never had any pain while working out either. Only thing I can come up with is a spasm but I applied heat to it all night last night with no improvement. Today, the pain is about twice as worse most likely b/c of it tightening up while sleeping. If it gets worse I'll go to the doc but I wanted to see what everyone thought here.

Did you do heavy shrugs on back day? I've had this happen once, it went away in about 4 days.

I just did what sounds like the exact same thing on Friday. I felt crippled for like a day & a half. I noticed it when it happend though, it was durring shrugs. I took valium for a couple days & heating pad a few times a day & hit the gym yesterday after only 2 days off. It's feeling better already.

I wish I had some sort of pain med or muscle relaxer. It's gettingpretty uncomfortable sitting in this chair at work.

Possible Dehydration -

Hey,

I am not certain if this could be the cause of the problem or not, but I had the same type of thing happen during my last cycle. I don't think it was stress induced or strained by any exercises, but am leaning more towards dehydration. You may want to hydrate yourself very well, and see if the problem deminishes or not. Just a thought.
