i've read that you and others take a couple month's break from benching at least once a year. do you lift at all during that time?

i was thinking that to avoid mental burnout, i would train squats and deadlifts if i dont have any bench competitions coming up.

how do you train squats when you're benching as opposed to when you're not planning on doing a bench meet for a while?

also, what do you do for deadlifts?

thanks

Mule squats? Just kiddin man. If I could blast a few more hundred pounds on bench, that would rule!

he said earlier that he took a year off and when he squatted again a couple weeks ago, he hit an 850 box squat :alien:

haha i was figuring that

you can't tell somebody's tone of voice through text :)

When I take my time off I don't bench at all, it usually last about two mts or so then I start back, during that time I used to squat every week, this year I'm gonn squat every other week. 3 time with band 10x2 then I will do a mx effort lift I also pull the sled, do some hypers and glut ham raises, I don't go nuts I just do it for fun and yes it helps with burn out....

I've taken months off from flat bench press, done dumbbells only, and made 30lb PRs when I came back...so I dont think taking time off is gonna hurt anything.
