Christ I hate those bastards. LiveNation was independent, but no longer. At least up until last year you often could decide to which band of fuckers you paid the exorbitant fees.

You've got two choices, make time for an extra trip down to the venue during the 2 hours a day their box office might be open, or pay all Ticketmaster's bullshit fees.

Ticketmaster's Fees: allow me to enumerate

* Service Charge
* Building Facility Charge
* Processing Charge
* Shipping Charge
*Because it sucks to be you Charge
*Fuck you, Pay Me Charge
*Squeal like a piggie charge
*Bitch please, we know you got some mo money charge

The last time I got tickets for a show I was able to do it directly at the venue's web site (Mann Music Center). I literally got third from front row for face value. Best seats I've ever had to a concert.

ticket master and stubhub are a damn ripoff, try craigslist under the ticket section in your local city and the city near the main event.

Yeah, but would it make you feel better if they throw that in the main price of the ticket?

End of the day - People have no problem paying for their prices (I bet you still bought them).

Remember: Bands, managers, record companies, team owners, etc. want TM to charge as MUCH as possible. TM sometimes doesn't have much choice in the prices.

I have bought tickets for Montreal Canadiens games directly from the team's website online, and upon chosing the e-ticket option, I was still charged a $6 'convenience' fee. I was stunned...why are they charging this? Then I did the math.

I was unable to find the exact number of season ticket holders, but I did find out that the highest season ticket cap in the league is 16,500. Assuming Montreal is lower than that, 16,000 is a safe max guestimate. Capacity is 21,273...and every game is a sellout...so that leaves 5273 seats for each game to be sold through partial packages and single game sales online. There are 46 home dates for the preseason and regular season.

Grand total of the revenue generated by the 'convenience fee': $1,455,348

Factor in the even greater profit they make when they ship those that want the option 'hard' tickets, and they are making a solid 2 million a season in extra profits.

That's money pulled right out of the air...two million bucks that goes directly into the owner's pocket. Not a bad little bonus, eh?

That's my point....there is often no option. You can buy from Ticketmaster or not go.

I'm not talking about the price of the ticket. I'm talking about fees that go solely to Ticketmaster. For cheap tickets I've actually paid as much to TM as I did to the artist and venue.

It's a great scam. I understand that they have to make a certain amount of money to pay for their server space, bandwidth, staff, ect...but cleary they are gouging.

As for their being the only option, I think that's built in with the promoters that put on the events; Ticketmaster won't sell your tickets unless you give them X% of the tickets to sell, I'm guessing.

Admit it, you are just pissed they wouldn't refund your money on the Charlie Sheen tickets you bought.

Why would someone want a refund on Sheen tickets? He's been killing ever since the Detroit show.
I heard he switched to a pretty cool Q&A format after that one. Just wanted to have a line to make someone in this thread react :). Sheen is actually coming to my little town, Dallas, Texas. Do you think he botched Detroit on purpose so people would talk?

It's hard to say if he fumbled on purpose...I think a lot of his so-called meltdowns had a healthy dose of Charlie acting in them. He has carefully crafted much of this media blitz IMO. I think he knew that by demonstrating how many people wanted to see him post-firing, regardless of what he was doing, everybody but Warner Bros would see how much money they could make off of him...and would want to hire him in spite of the latest fiasco. And it worked; HDnet and Fox have already pitched projects to him.

There are two options, you pay ticket master prices or you don't. The last concert I attended was in the mid 1990's....

Apparently, enough people love their prices and business practices enough to keep them in business....Kinda like our dual political system where you get the option of voting for a douchebag or a turd sandwich...
