The morning after pill is RU 486 correct?

i think thats a pill that terminates a foetus whenever....whereas morning after acts after 72 hrs

hmm.....i think i flew off the handle a little :) it would probably cost them a lot to do this for everyone

hmm....it might be a publicity stunt but

over here people do shit like this :) hell even if it isnt for free im still annoyed
I suspect the medical infrastructure would like to control all pills including aspirin.

Why would seeing a doc make the morning after pill a safer thing? Being in a hospital is quite dangerous.

no it isn't. RU-486 is a lot stronger. BTW i dont see anything wrong with that. As long as I dont pay for this shit through my income taxes.

pharmacists have long term training.....the supermarket was talking about employing people 'trained' to gove pharmacutical advice

in your country seeing your doctor = more money for doctor

in my country seeing your doctor = 1 more f-ing patient to add to the 13,000 you treat for free (services wise). we're trying to cut that figure down :)

hospitals are WAYYY more dangerous here in terms of picking up nasty bugs:)

Morning after pills are simply birth control pills taken in a different manner than regular birth control pills. You have to take something like 4 of them at once for 2 days. I don't see a problem with this as long as they are dispensed by the supermarket's pharmacist, because whoever takes them will need to answer a medical health history questionnaire as well as given full instructions on how to take them. It would be unethical and irresponsible to do it any other way.

Even if they do offer it for free, they can only do it short term, because how else will they offset the cost?

It all sounds like some sort of crazy publicitiy scam to me....

if anything they should be behind the counter and ppl would have to ask for them from the pharmacist... that would keep ppl from popping them like candy.

I think you're right. and they do give away condoms in some places like Planned Parenthood, but not some place so easily accessible and frequented by the general public.

If anything, maybe they are just trying to promote the emergency contraceptive pills since less people know about the availability of it and what it does than they do about condoms. I just think that some organization is trying to promote some kind of hype and get people to talk about these pills.

I'll be curious to find out if this really happens and for how long...

ill be sure to keep you updated. europe might be a bit more left leaning than the US but the right wing groups (and many left wingers) probably wont stand for it and people will probably start organising boycotts etc. either that or mothers start handcuffing their daughters to the shopping trolley :D

They were handing out "morning after pills" 5 years ago at college health clinics and planned parenthood...along with other "birth control devices"....

I guess I have mixed emotions about this...I think that it may give some girls a false sense of security about sex....They may loose sight of the fact that the "morning after pill" is only protecting them from getting pregnant and not from some diseases that may occur from having unprotected sex.

But, especially after the terrible tragedy that happened here in Wisconsin, a month ago...where a young girl of 18 gave birth to a child in a college dorm bathroom, because she was afraid to tell her parents or friends that she was pregnant and was afraid that if the college found out they would take away her scholarships. The baby died, and the young girl bleed to death. I mean you hear of these kind of stories all of the time, ladies throwing their newborns away in garbage cans, killing or abandoning them after birth, young girls dying while trying to abort their own babies.......and it is very sad because they all could be prevented.
