yes...it was posted at IT as well.....here's the full post as spidey wrote it on IT....kinda odd if you ask me.....
"Well, my best friend just got a call from the local police. They traced his IP to his work and wanted to know why he spent some time on the anabolic board at EF.
Wouldn't EF have to cooperate in order for them to get that info? He is really spooked now and is cleaning house. He told them he was looking into natural health supplements but they didn't buy his explanation. They asked "if that's true then why were you on the anabolic steroid forum?"
I work at the same place and I spent way more time on the EF anabolic board than he did so I am just waiting for them to call me. I wonder if they have access to all the posts. Both he and I admitted to steroid use and discussed it on the anabolic board along with everyone else. I wonder if those posts could be used to get a search warrant. This really sucks because I just started my winter bulker. I don't want to have to clean house.
Does the administration here at IT keep a backup of the vet and mod forum? Just a thought but that is what is biting people in the ass from EF. Those backups are ending up in the fed's hands it looks like. I was just getting over my paranoia from EF, LOL. I guess it really isn't all that bright to be admitting to illegal behavior on an on-line forum. I had said I wasn't going to do that anymore but then I went ahead and did it anyway on this and other boards. I think I will not do that anymore."

My first thought was that maybe his work viewed some of the posts he was making and reading up on and got ticked he was "stealing work time" to support his "drug habit" and maybe let the authorities know about it.
I dont see Admins here being responsible, they must make some good money with plat members, why jeapordize it?

If this story is true at all... I would imagine, and expect EF to require a warrant before they would divulge an IP...
If the police did contact someone and they had a warrant, they had much more than 'someone spending time on a Anabolic Forum'... you don't get a warrant for that. That being said, if they have something else then they are just using his time on EF as more circumstancal evidence...
Even at that... if the guy has a email addy associated with his EF id, they could have got his information from his ISP, and not EF.
Who knows, it just sounds too fishy. Police have too much to do to be calling everyone that posts on EF without some real evidence to back it up...

This whole story sounds a bit off...
I’m not trying to discredit this person’s story but here are some questions that rise from reading this:
1- In order for law enforcement to track IPs they would have to hack our site since we don’t give them.
2- If there are several work stations at this job, which it sound like from the post… how could the IP be traced to one person out of all the possible machines on the same server and IP.
3- The tittle says “my friend got a call from the police” the police is a local entity, in order for the police in this person’s city to get his IP they would have to get a court order in NYC to be able to hack into our site and steal his/her IP logs…. That just doesn’t seem likely. It takes a lot for the local Police to get a court order in a different state, especially for what could be a minor possession charge.
4- If indeed my co-worker got a call from the police and he was questioned about his online “activities” why on earth would I make a post saying “I work at the same place too, and I have admitted to steroid use” it just doesn’t make any sense… If law enforcement is looking into somebody for posting on a Steroid message board, why would I post and admit to doing the same thing my co-worker is getting investigated for? SPECIALY with the SAME handle that I used on the board that is suppose to be compromised…. Someone with something to worry about wouldn’t be so careless and leave a direct trail to themselves and place of work. This person is either real stupid or knows he doesn’t really have anything to worry about, I’ll let you decide.

sounds very, very false to me. Why his station? There are several members that have pics, post more information than this guy most likely, and frequent several anabolic boards. If I say on AOL instant messanger that I killed Abraham Lincoln, will the Feds track that too and then arrest me for admitting I did it. I don't think so. It actually happens to us about once every three to four months and always has since we formed this site in 1996. It does seem like it is getting more frequent though.

im a pre-law student at the university of cincinnati and they can get your IP adress...its part of the patriot act...the federal goverment has a right to your computer files and you wont even know they hacked into your computer until shit like this happens...just letting everyone know that it is our risk putting anything up here....any fed can register with this post the same way we did so just be carefull and dont ruin this beautiful discussion board the God gave to us (by God i do mean George)

those of you who are unfamiliar with this patriot act it gives the United States gov. authority to search and seizure without the individuals consent. it doesnt have to be reasonable either. such searches include being pulled out of line at the airport, unreasonable bag searches, computer hacking, etc....so if you are always connected to the internet then you run the risk of being targeted....anyway how about those yankees and the A-Rod trade...anyone know a good cycle that includes anadrol, sust, winstrol, clomid

I think it is a crock. Sounds scripted to me. Can you imagine though the number of real po po's on this board just looking for the same thing as us?

juicepimp....what i was implying is that they dont need a warrent due to the patriot act..if you knew what you were talking about you would have noticed it was implyed by the examples i gave..i.e. computer hacking, airport security, etc.....so before you call anyone out on a post as you did me ...please take a look at what the the person is saying...somtimes you have to look deeper into what is being implyed rather than just reading words...anyway what i was trying to get across to everyone is that even though this may be BS there is a slight chance it can happen so just keep it safe....freedom of speech is a beautiful thing we are strickly on this board for knowledge and research
